I just found out, via an article in our local paper, that HoneyFund was created in the next town over from mine. I'm floored. I can't believe I've been living among people who not only think it's acceptable for brides/grooms to ask for cash while lying about it, but who actually created the whole damn thing and profit from every transaction charge. This makes me weep for my hometown.

On behalf of these neighbors of mine, I am truly sorry everyone. And after having lived here for 20+ years, marrying here, and attending a dozen or so local weddings, I can assure you that it is in no way "a regional thing."

    What differentiates an average host and a great host is anticipating unexpressed needs and wants of their guests.  Just because the want/need is not expressed, doesn't mean it wouldn't be appreciated.

    Sadly social cluelessness exists everywhere along with rude jerks. No escaping them I guess... But that just makes you stand out as good person and you can set the example. You are not accountable for how other people live their lives

    I get that old adage, "It takes a village" but this is putting a gross literal spin on that. The world is not responsible for funding your every life event. WTF.
