Wedding Shoes Help!

Hi All,
I was just wondering if you had any recommendations for comfortable wedding shoe brands.
I don't want to go too expensive, but I also want them to be pretty.
My wedding is in September, so I was thinking maybe an open toe pump or a sandal with some bling.
I want to keep the heel hight 3-4 inches max

Any recommendations would be lovely. Thanks so much! :)

Re: Wedding Shoes Help!

  • You might want to post this on the Attire and Accessories board. They will probably have some great ideas.

  • It depends on what you like. I'm just doing sandals. To me, shoes are shoes.. they're made to be comfy and comfy to me is flip flops. I have no idea why people spend tons of money on shoes they won't wear again. Instead, I bought white sandals for $20 on clearance in September and I will definitely wear them again, mainly to work and when I'm on my honeymoon (beach HM). The metallic matches the detail in my dress. image

  • I ordered mine from Nina's website- great selections. I wore mine last week to our dance lesson & after 1 hour of non stop dancing, they were still comfortable.
  • What about finding a regular pair of shoes like you described and adding a shoe clip (check out etsy) to bling them up for the wedding & then you can take the bling off afterwards & wear the shoes again. My biggest regret expense wise was spending $70 on a pair of "wedding shoes" that I'll never wear again.

  • I bought a pair of silver ballet slippers for my reception
  • I'm planning on getting dressy shoes I"ll wear again. Nothing too "weddingy". My dress has sliver beading, so I'm thinking a basic pair of silver pumps, maybe open-toed, or strappy sandals, that I can wear to every dressy occasion I want for years to come. I'll probably just buy from Zappos.
  • I bought a cute pair of teal heels that I will be able to wear again!

  • I have several pairs of Nina/Touch of Nina shoes that I've worn to several weddings. They've all been super comfy, and I've worn them all night. My favorite pair is going to their 4th wedding this spring, so they've held up incredibly well.

  • i'm also wearing Nina, havent' worn them yet so can't comment on their comfort.  Check out zappo's - you can put in the criteria you are looking for to narrow down the selection adn it's free shipping/free returns.

I think Modcloth is a nice place to look for shoes, a lot of their heels look very comfortable, I'm actually keeping my eye on that site for when I buy my own wedding shoes.

Hautelook is also a great place to look- They basically have new blowout sales every day, where you can get massive discounts on brand name products- the catch is that the stock is limited and the sales only last for a few days at a time, so every time you check there are going to be different things on sale. I can attest to the quality of it too- I ordered a professional grade airbrush complete with a MASSIVE amount of makeup for it for an incredible deal- I got like 80% off- It works beautifully, the makeup is wonderful, it is definitely the real brand-name product- I think these sales are to get rid of extra stock, or to get new customers to buy the brand so they come back later to buy at full price.

  • Look at shoes for dancing(like ballroom) They're often very sturdy/supportive/comfy and lots of cute/inexpensive ones out there

My favorite is the Cole Haan Air line, which uses Nike techology inside the shoes.  The heels are much more comfortable!  They are pricey, but you can find them at TJ Maxx, etc and on EBAY.

    Good luck-

  • I got a pair of Touch Ups in the Nona style. Low heel, peep toe, very comfortable and DYEABLE so I won't have a pair of white peep toes forever. Very comfortable, which is great considering the nerve issues I've had lately in my leg. I did get a pair of anti-skid stickies to put on the bottom of the shoes, as they were smooth leather.

Re: suggestion of ballroom shoes, if you're not a ballroom dance they aren't worth the price. Training shoes (ie less expensive) come in basically nude, tan, and black. If you want to wear a pair like that, they are very comfy for being on your feet for a while. But if not, getting them in specific color(s) is pricey, and there are more affordable, comfy options out there.

  • I am going to be honest (no mocking)  My favorite pair of heels came from Payless. They are a comfort brand and they look really good. I wear these all the time.
  • mine were Nina's as well. very comfy and cute. I got them on sale at macy's for under $60 and I know you can get certain styles/colors on amazon.com for around that price as well.

  • I got my Nina's at Famous Footwear for around $45. They run a lot of 20% off coupons and have an option of ordering online if they didn't have your size in the store. I'm actually really sad they didn't have anything that was right for my wedding.

  • I bought a pair of ivory pumps at Penney's that will go perfect with a blue green dress i already own. $32!

  • I got a pair of 2.5'' heels from Nine West. A bit fancier and pricier, but I plan to wear them again many times!

I also have a very comfortable pair of pumps that I got at Payless.
  • tbh, I'm just using some low, nude heels that I bought about 18 months ago - they're the perfect height, they go with my gown, they're formal enough, and they're already broken in.  I'm just going to take them to a local shoe repair shop to clean up some seams and fill in a nick on the heel.  They're Naturalizers, btw!

  • I wore tennis shoes. A pair I had had (and still have) for years. They were white (or at least they were when I bought them) and comfy. My dress covered them up and it was outdoors on a budget. I got a good laugh out of it.
  • I got badgely mischka shoes that I am IN LOVE with - 3ish inches, very comfy.  If you go to 6pm.com you can get older styles of this brand for like 80% cheaper.  This is a good idea especially if you want to take pictures of your accessories.

I'm wearing sparkly flip flops. If my feet hurt I will be very grumpy.
  • I got cream strappy heels with tiny rhinestones at Payless. I'll need to break them in some, but the heel isn't bad and if I find something else these can go back or just be used for other stuff.
