Wedding Woes

Happy frigid Monday

How was the weekend?

Ours was a whole lot of nothing.  We were supposed to go to get DH's eyes checked Saturday then to a little science center.  It was snowing too hard to take all of us on the drive so DH went alone.  I was going to attempt taking the kids to at least a play area, but it was just too gross.  We stayed home until DH got back then went sledding.

Sunday morning I didn't even attempt church.  A little later in the day I did do the grocery.  Woohooo.  It's probably the last time I leave the house until Wednesday.

On the plus side my kids are funny.

Re: Happy frigid Monday

  • Oh and our new cabinets shipped!  We also picked out drawer pulls (holy Hannah those are expensive) and a dishwasher.  Now if we could just get a counter picked we could get the backsplash and lights.

We got our remodel timeline.  It's a little tight, but it should be done my M2's bday party.

  • YAY for cabinets!

Friday-The kiddo spent the night at a friend's house.

Saturday-Housework and then we dropped the kids off at my parents and headed downtown. The hotel we stayed in was really cool.  It used to be the old Union Station and they have two trains that have been converted into 26 suites.  We didn't get one of those, but I loved the concept.  The party was fun.  DH and I both drank a *little* too much.

Sunday-We went to breakfast with some old friends of ours.  We then went to my parents for an early dinner and bday celebration.  I watched the Grammys last night and then slept like crap.
  • Friday we went to the eye-center for another 2 hour eye exam for the kiddo--consensus is "doing fine, don't need to change scripts, come back in 6-8 months), also, kiddo said "I"m done" when she was done with the tests...which was problematic because the tests weren't done yet.
It took much work to get her to finish. (the staff and docs are amazing though)

She also did not like eye drops to dilate her eyes--no shock there. (had to pin her arms down to get them in--extra fun because I have the eyeball issues)
When they brought her back for part 2, she was very clear about saying "NO MORE EYE DROPS".
The doctor (who sees a gazillion kids every day) remembered 'her personality' from last time--we'll pretend that we think that's a good thing :-P

The weather was turning icky, so we didn't stay and go to the sci museum there.

Saturday we only went to Meijer--weather was turning.

Sunday church was cancelled, and we're taking the morning off :)
  • We didn't do much this weekend.  Friday was some drama that seems to be settling down.  Saturday we went to see a speaker that had my face scrunched up at some things, but he was overall good, good event.  Sunday I spent 2 hours in the tub finishing up "Orange is the New Black" and "Death at Seaworld".  I like the Piper in the book a lot more than Piper in the series.
  • My grandma, her bf, my aunt and cousin came for DD1's basketball game, so we visited with them for a while on Saturday.

We had some potty training successes that forced us into Chuck E Cheese and Basket Robbins. It was worth it though.  I'm so glad to get this process going.

DH's work announced on Thursday that they were closing today and school cancelled last night.  Today is going to be a lot of board games, puzzles, netflix and probably some baking.
  • I had a nice gtg with Barbie and her family. They're so cute. Sat, I had all of the plans and only got to two of them. Sunday, was pretty lazy after church.

  • It was birthday weekend for DD and every last one of us is exhausted. But she had a blast! Fun toys, good friends everywhere, and a trip to the Circus to top it all off. DD loved the circus, even running on fumes as she was at that point.

And then DD got a betta for a present. Dubya. Tee. Eff. And as posted on FB, that ended well...:(

Sooo...how exactly do you explain a dead betta to a three year old that never had that kind of pet attachment to it in the first place? It wasn't even there that long. Didn't even name the poor thing. I wanted to give it a little bit of a quarantine period first before going "squeee, your new pet!!!"

  • I vote showing her finding nemo and saying she went back down the drain to the sea.

    but that's lazy parenting.
  • Weekend was blah.  Nothing spectacular planned, nothing spectacular happened.

I got to take H out for sushi (yum!), got a short run in, lifted heavy on Sunday---woo.  Nothing else really.

Now it's gale force winds outside, I'm sleepy and I want to be at home with H.

  • Saturday: I had to drive through a white out and unplowed roads to get a haircut.  I had cancelled the week before because of the funeral, so I couldn't cancel on him again - especially since he made his way into work through all the shit.
After that I went on a glorious Target excursion with NO kid and NO time restraints.  I went up and down every row and through every rack. It was so nice.  I needed that.
Then I met DH and DD at Red Lobster for lunch.  (Don't hate, I love RL)  And then we all went to the boardgaming club and played quite a few games.  (@Varuna @jojo and other gamers - we played a new game called Rampage, it was really fun. You get to be monsters that destroy buildings, throw cars and eat people)
After that DH stayed behind to play more games and DD and I went to my mom's to hang out for a while.
Sunday: We didn't do a whole lot other than we took DD to a classmate's birthday party at an indoor bouncy house place.  We had SO much fun.  I want to have my b-day party there.  ;)

Speaking of b-days - mine is tomorrow.  I'm going to be 38 and I am not all that excited about it.  People keep bugging me about what I want to do.  Bitches, it's 0 degrees outside.  I don't want to do anything!
  • @auntflo- happy early bday!  You'll be lucky if it gets up to zero tomorrow.

  • Our weekend was uneventful until yesterday, when (tmi) one of our neighbors called the cops for possible domestic violence but it was actually because I was screaming really loudly during sex. When the cops came, they asked my husband if we were fighting and he said 'no, it was more... intimate?' and the cop replied 'good for you, man'. Then they had to lay eyes on me (I was wrapped in a towel because I was in the shower) and search our entire house.

I really don't like our neighbors and wish they'd mind their own business and keep track of their own child instead of coming to our house on occasion and going 'have you seen our daughter?' or letting her daughter come to our back door and just straight up walk into our house unannounced.

  • LOL at the interaction between your husband and the cop!

How old is their child?  Maybe next time she walks into your home unannounced, you should call the authorities and report that you have found a child.

  • Shit, like six or something? One time, I had to tell them that I'd seen her walk off with a redhead who I assumed was her mother, as it's a whole ginger family. She shrugged and said 'oh, I think I know who you're talking about, I'll go find her and ask.'

  • That is some child neglect.  WOW
    image
  • Right?? They have another one too, a younger one.

  • Dang juice.  The sex part is funny.  The kid part is not.
  • The one good thing about the cold has been the older child not wandering off. It's also been a lot quieter because she hasn't been outside screaming for no reason.

The kid has even come to our front door with her toddler sister and started banging on it at like 9:30 at night on weekday. It's like... kid, we're getting ready for bed, and both of you should already be in bed.

  • Well...it wasn't frigid Sunday at the Juche house.

  • Apparently not! Husband couldn't get to sleep afterward because he was laughing so much. He says he isn't gonna be able to top this story ever.

  • In the best end of a day ever (okay maybe second after yesterday), I won the auction I was bidding in for that Gabifresh galaxy fatkini. I'm gonna have me an awesome swimsuit for honeymoon.

  • It's been -40 and colder here, so a whole lot of nothing! FI is a HS teacher and school's been called off today and tomorrow, but I still have to go to my classes.

Juche that's funny about the cop! I have a friend with a similar issue with neighbors' kids. Apparently the mom thinks it's okay to let a 6, 3, and ONE year old walk (or crawl) across the road by themselves to get to her house.
