Decided I would post the dresses I've tried on - I still haven't found 'the one' - I found ones that 'would work' but nothing I'm totally in love with and cannot live without.

I am in LOVE with #6! (the one with the different colored flowers) Such a beautiful dress, such a flattering shape on you...and I've never seen anything like it before. Looks very different than the typical "cookie cutter" dresses that are all around. Soft, vintage feel, elegant. That's my personal fave! I think your waist looks the smallest in that and the last dress. I'm not in love with the skirt in the last dress...but the body of it makes your body look slammin!

Thanks guys - I'm glad I revisited these pictures because I am starting to see what works and what doesn't. The first 4 dress pics are David's Bridal (with 2&3 being the same dress), I think 5, 7, and 8 are Allure (I'm not 100% sure on 5 and 8) and then #6 I totally forget. I liked #6 but I want a little more sparkle/bling.

Right now the dress that I really really really want to try on is this one (since FI and I talked and figured out I had more wiggle room in my budget than we initially thought). It has the ruched bodice, ballgown and bling -- though the skirt is plain and I think I might like a more dramatic skirt:

I keep looking at this Maggie Sottero as well - it combines everything I liked from the 2 DB dresses I liked best:

I love the 3rd and picture the best. You look so beautiful in all of them though. I love seeing people in their dresses. I tried on the Maggie Brittney. I liked it a lot but I didn't get that wow this is it feeling from it.

I realize I haven't given my commentary on them. I think I've decided against DB's just because with 100's of other brides wearing them, I don't think I'd feel special and I have weight issues so I know I'd be comparing myself with every picture I saw (nobody else but me would be doing this - I get that. It's a head game, I know I know).

Image 1 - David's Bridal - I don't like where the bodice hits my hip. Where I'm holding my hands is where I'd like it to end.

Image 2 & 3 - David's Bridal - I liked this dress, but I wish it had more 'poof'. Looking at the pictures (and pictures of other brides in it) I don't like the way it photographs (the sparkles and lace don't show up that well, in my mind).

Image 4 - David's Bridal - This dress has been discontinued and I'd be buying it 2 sizes down from what I need. Sure, I plan on losing weight like every other bride, but again I've seen lots of other girls who got this dress.

Image 5 - Allure??? - The dress was heavy. I mean HEAVY. With all the activities I have planned on my wedding day, I don't think it would be comfortable to wear all day (there's a chance I'll be wearing my dress from like 6A until 12P - it has the potential of being a LONG marathon day).

Image 6 - I forget? - I like the dress, but I wish it had some sparkle to it. I guess I want to feel kind of like a 'Modern Disney Princess'. The price on this dress at that time didn't make me happy - but with the new dress budget it fits, but I don't think I love it enough.

Image 7 - Allure - I was not comfortable in the top. She even put me in a dress that was like 4 sizes too big just to see if it would give 'the girls' more coverage where I'd feel more comfortable. Didn't help.

Image 8 - Allure??? - I think I'm liking the shape after revisiting the picture, but I don't like the skirt. It looks too 'messy'. If it went to ruffles or something maybe - and I'd probably put a belt under the bustline for more sparkles.

My mom has been a little hard on me and the whole "You gotta cover your arms" and the whole "Don't these dresses offer more coverage, you've got so much skin showing" - I come from a modest family and I'm pretty modest myself. So along with my mom giving me the negative input and my indecisiveness it's going to be a tough decision. My mom LOVES the ruffled skirts - I do like the dramatic skirts because I think it evens me out.

I like pics #3 and #4 the best. I like the shape of #5, but not completely sold on a full sweetheart on you. But I'm sure that has to do with the fact that it's a sample and doesn't fit quite right.

@Beanbot2002 - #5 was like 3 sizes to small - I was surprised I was able to shimmy my way into the sample (probably because it's more of a ballgown)!!

I like the last three the best. You're TOTALLY right about the first dress; before I read your commentary, I was thinking, "The waist on that dress looks really wrong."

The last two just look so floaty and pretty! I think the second to last one is really gorgeous and really fits you up top really well. Between the second to last and last ones, I'd say that it really depends on the silhouette you want (A-line or fit-and-flare), since both look stunning.

Sorry..maybe it was dress #4, but pic #5. The satin fit and flare with the full sweetheart and a beaded belt under the bust line. It looks like you're swimming in it to me.
