How far away to be considered a DW?

We have been considering getting married about 4-5 hours north of where we live (which is about an hour to an hour and a half north of where most of our friends/family live). We found some great ideas at some small scenic bed and breakfast type venues that would showcase the season ( we would like to get married in winter of next year) and would allow a very small (less than 20 people) ceremony/reception. As this is about 5-6 hours away for most of the guests, we thought about doing a large BBQ/camping type party the following summer ( which would obviously be without the frills/dress/etc) for the 125 or so friends and family that would like to celebrate with us. Being that the ceremony/reception would be in our home state, would this be too close to home to qualify as a DW?

  • I don't know if it would be considered destination or not but it sounds awesome :) I would call semi- destination lol
