  What differentiates an average host and a great host is anticipating unexpressed needs and wants of their guests.  Just because the want/need is not expressed, doesn't mean it wouldn't be appreciated.

  I agree individually they are alright. But they take up so much space on her hand they are very impractical. There is no room for a wedding band

  I actually like having a gap. We bought our wedding bands about a week ago, and one of my stipulations was that I didn't want my rings to feel like an exact set -- I wanted them to compliment each other, but I didn't want the type of band that fits right in to the contour of my engagement ring or sits super close to it.   I don't watch the show either, but supposedly she wanted this because she's been engaged 4 times and she's running out of ways to differentiate the rings for each (those may not have been her exact words...).
