Bridesmaid Gifts

What are you getting your bridesmaid? How much are you spending?

Re: Bridesmaid Gifts

  • We only have one attendant each, so FI and I agreed on about $150 for the MOH and BM gifts.

I did the stereotypical getting-ready robes for me and my MOH (my sister), because she's going to be staying with me at a B&B the night before and then getting hair and makeup done on-site with me. I'm torn as to what else to get her, though. I'm thinking maybe a nice bangle bracelet or something -- she can wear it on the day if she chooses, and if not, it's a nice piece of jewellery to have :)

  • I'm getting my maids robes.. my MOH is planning this whole weekend thing for all of us involving hotel rooms and hot tubs so I figured a robe would work.. and then I'm either doing a clutch or a diamond candle. I haven't decided yet. But I think total I'll end up spending like $200. I found a really good deal on some robes on etsy, same with the clutches. If I do the candles they're like $25 a piece but still not bad. I have 4 attendants and then a personal assistant that I'm also giving gifts.
  • I'm getting my girls pearl necklaces, Coach make up bags (filled with perfume, facial scrubs, and lip gloss), and a gift card. I'm also paying for their hair and nails the day of the wedding. I know that's not technically a gift, but it's saving them quite a bit of money so I'm going to go ahead and count it.

I'll end up spending about $300 per girl.

  • I found some pearl pendant neckalces on super sale for around 12 dollars that I bought. I am also going to arrange breakfast the morning of the wedding for all the ladies getting ready together. The salon works with a cafe across the street and they bring over all kinds of breakfast foods, serve mimosa's, while everyone is taking turns getting ready. I thought this would be neat and like a small party before the big event. Itll be me, mom, aunt, 2 sisters, gonna be stepdaughter, maybe grandma, maybe FI mom.

  • I haven't decided yet. I'll get two of my friends something off their Etsy favorites, the other two though are going to be a bit more difficult. Worse comes to worse I'll get them gift cards to their favorite stores. I also got them shoes and jewelry for the wedding day, but I'm not including thst as part of their gift.

I'll probably end up spending about 100 dollars on each.

  • I'm making some of their gifts as well as buying some (a few have already come in, yay!). Each of my ladies will get a personalized tote bag (just their first initial), a pink pashmina/shawl (one of our wedding colors sot hey can wear it if it's a lil chilly the day of the wedding), a personalized hanger for their dress (simple DIY with rub-on letters), a DIY emergency kit (simple little things), I made a pearl & ribbon bracelet for each that will go in a box with a sticker I made that says "Thanks for helping us tie the knot!" (the guys are getting this same sticker on the box for their tie which is a gift for them) and each will have a custom charm on their bouquet (a Mario game related charm, nothing fancy, but it matches the guy's Mario ties!) to keep as well. Then I've got about 2 other more personal gifts for each of my bridesmaids; for example, my one friend is just starting to get into cooking a lot of her own meals (just moved out of her parents place and is on her own) so I got her a set of glass cutting boards in funky designs and kitchen towels to match. My FSIL loves wine so I made (decorated) a set of coasters and will make (decorate) some frosted wine glasses for her.

  • Can I ask what percentage of your budget is going to attendant gifts? I can in no ay afford $300 total, let alone, $300 each girl!

    I'm just curious...

  • I think it's sort of proportionate to the number of attendants you have.  If you have 10 girls, spending hundreds on each one isn't going to cut it (at least not in my budget - I'm not a millionaire).   I have a MOH and 3 BMs and I decided that I was going to try to keep it around the amount they're spending on their dresses/shoes/accessories. It won't make up for any bachelorette/shower spending, but since they're still single, I figure I'll be making that up if/when I'm in their weddings.

This was one of the things I had the most fun with... don't mind all my pictures :) I am giving each girl:
    - A clutch purse for the day of (and hopefully for other special events in her future) that's an ivory color (not like this one pictured) and is lined with her favorite color and a label with a personalized message.
    image
    - Earrings to wear at the wedding
    image
    - A bracelet to wear at the wedding and hopefully again in the future - kind of a "thanks for helping me tie the knot"
    image
    - I found these labels on Etsy and had them customized.  I'm going to put them on each girl's favorite wine
    image
    - I'm still deciding if I have enough DIY skills to make these scarves myself or if I need to order them from Etsy.  I've been wimping out and ordering things lately but I need to flex my DIY muscles a little more, I think :)
    image
    - And I'm also paying for their mani-pedis the day before the wedding.  I invited them all to join me for pampering, which means taking time off of work, so I wanted to do something extra for them.

For the record, f I had more girls, I definitely wouldn't have bought as many things.  I just can't help myself.
  • I have 5 total, and I am just not sure where to even begin.

I have 4 girls total. They all have stuff going on in their lives right now that puts them in some difficult financial situations so I'm spending a little more on them that I probably normally would, but I don't want my wedding to be a financial burden.

I forgot to add that we are also paying for rooms the night of the wedding for the entire bridal party and their SO's.

  • Like @pumpkinsandturkeys I too only have one attendant.  I already purchased and gave her the shoes for the wedding.  They are custom made converse that have "As you wish" embroidered on the side. She is a HUGE Princess Bride fan (such as myself) and I know that phrase means a lot to her.  I still want to get her something else, so I'm thinking I'll get her a pearl necklace, I found one on Etsy that I think is just beautiful.  I would like to do more for her since she is traveling out of state to be here for the wedding and will be 7 months pregnant, so I'll see what else I come up with :)

  • I am spending just under $100 for the girls. I have 4 total. I bought them all necklaces to wear with their dresses.
I've also got them all bottles of my favorite lotion "Beautiful Day" (for those of you Bath & Body Works addicts like me). Figured the name was also fitting for the day :)

I'm also toying with the idea of making little day-of emergency kits.
  • @kellibastien In regards to those emergency kits, I just found a steal of a deal!  I was at Michael's yesterday and they had this emergency kit (http://www.amazon.com/Hollywood-Fashion-Secrets-Bridesmaids-Emergency/dp/B00821VTMW/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1391361861&sr=8-2&keywords=bridesmaid+emergency+kit) on clearance for $4.99, I used a coupon and got them for about $3 a piece!!!  They were originally $25.  So, I'd check out your local Michael's and you could save a ton of money on these!

  • @lindseyanne1 Awe man! I totally went to the Michael's by me yesterday... and couldn't find them to save my life! I was a little disappointed. I remember seeing them there when they were full price. Ahh well... I will figure something out. Thanks for the suggestion!

Wasn't a completely wasted trip. I found the last missing piece for our centerpieces... I wasn't finding it anywhere! And it was only $1 a piece! Score! :)
  • I'm still having trouble with the Bridesmaid's gifts. I have seven and they're all SUPER different and so I think I'm going to go with a cute, small makeup bag for them filled with things they'd like.

At least I'm better than FI, he didn't even know about presents at all (for his GM, for me, ours for our parents, etc.)

Hmmm I bought my girls a jewellery set, im just missing a bracelet:

    and their hair and makeup.

The Jewellery set was $146 each
    The Clutch is $11.50 each
Hair and make up is $137.50 each

My total right now is $295/each. I still looking for a bracelet and I think I will pay for mani & pedi's the weekend before the wedding.

This worked out to be about 5% of our budget. We spent more on them because they are all travelling to the wedding.

  • I have 5 girls. I made each of them a Pandora style bracelet with our wedding colors and got them all a rhinestone embellished cosmetic bag. 3 say Bridesmaid and 1 says Maid of Honor.  Made our flower girl a set of earrings to match our colors.

  • I have three bridesmaids, haven't decided on gifts yet but was thinking of a Michael kors or coach clutch.  one is a big wine drinker, so a nice bottle of wine for her, one is into hair/make up so a Sephora gift card for her...each one will get different gifts since they are such different personalities, wouldn't make sense to give them the same things.  I'll probably spend around $100-$150 on each, but I am not on a tight budget.    I think as long as you get something with the thought, it's not so much the cost that matters.
  •  I have bought the jewelry they will wear (but not really counting it as a gift), but I am putting in a 31 tote bag and I also bought a thermal wine bag that I will put a bottle of wine in. I'll probably throw some little odds and ends in there also. Maybe a DD gift card. Keeping it around 100 per girl. 4 girls total.
  • I was looking at this mini emergency kit bag that Birchbox sells and decided I'm going to make something similar for my girls. It will include bobby pins, hair bands, emory board, floss, pain reliever, stain remover (like tide2go), mints, safety pins, lip balm, a tampon/pad, clear nail polish, bandaids.. I think they'll be a hit with the girls!
  • I just bought their presents yesterday! I got them all totes with their monogram (ALL sorority girls...hahaha) and I'm going to put cute little stuff inside for them.

I want to give them all a ton of stuff, but I have seven girls (two cousins and a FSIL, plus friends) and that can add up fast.

  • I had thought about attaching charms of whatever they like, along with their first name initial, to their bouquets (soccer ball, make up charm, wine glass, etc) to personalize them. That's not really a gift though, so I am trying to think of other things. I will probably end up getting them all something completely different.
  • I'm also planning on paying for my girls' hair and makeup the day of the wedding. I never really thought of that as a "gift" but I guess it really is! I'm also planning on buying each of them a pashmina (in case it gets a little chilly at night) as well as these cute "tie the knot" bracelets from Etsy:

I got my girls (7 of them) a necklace from Etsy for the day )but not so dressy that it can't be worn everyday), wine tumbler that I'm going to have monogrammed, and a hanky. I will try post pics below. Oh and I found nice faux leather bags to put it all in on sale for $5.00. Was planning to get the monogrammed button down shirts but went over budget already!

I wanted to get those hankies too but with Happy Tears instead. I am planning on getting my mom one that says Today a bride, tomorrow a wife, forever your daughter (in Spanish). I ended up getting some navy clutches on Etsy for $20 with a personalized label attached inside. I was also thinking of a necklace that says xo and I got them each a chalkboard charm that I will hang on their bouquet with their initial.
