@lmhollister - Have fun at the tasting!

  • @Imhollister - I'm not sure how much you spend on pet food (I know I have 2 ginormous dogs so we go through food) but I actually order my pet food online.  There's 2 companies I'll order from - food arrives in 2 days, free shipping on orders $49 and over.  I've also ordered from Amazon before as well.

  • @Dignity100 I don't think we spend very much, but then again, we only have one dog and she's only 40 lbs. We're about to switch her from puppy food to adult food in a few months once she's a year old. Cinders seems to be growing and filling out a little still so we're keeping her on puppy food for now. Once we swtich her we're going to start ordering online so we can purchase some better quality grain-free food. Our Petsmart has an ok selection...but you can get a larger bag size and more selection online. I've bookmarked chewy.com to order from. I looked on Amazon but Chewy had a better selection for some brand's than even Amazon did.

  • @swazzle yay that's great!

    B-hot chocolate, oatmeal with blueberries

    L-coconut mushroom and quinoa soup

    S-grapes

    D-flafel and potato wedges

    S-tea and 2 cookies

E- two hours of dancing and a quick set of crunches

  • @Imhollister Chewy is who I use for my food.  They have awesome customer service.  I can recommend some brands if you need help choosing - or if you want, 2 great sites are dogfoodadvisor.com and dogfoodanalysis.com.  I know if I had an unlimited budget, I'd switch my dogs back to Acana (but I just cannot afford it for my giants).  When they were a little less expensive my dogs THRIVED on it - they had beautiful coats and energy and just did amazing on it... of course not all dogs do great on the same foods.

  • @Dignity100 Yep to all of that. :) I forget the exact brands we had narrowed down based on Dog Food Advisor but I know it was Fromm, PureVita, Canidae, and a couple others. My main concern after choosing one of the 5 star rated brands was to find one that sold in at least a 30 lb bag. That's how much our resealable dog food container holds so that's the quantity we typically buy in.

  • @Imhollister - Fromm is a great company, I don't think they've ever had a recall.  My dogs didn't care for Canidae when I fed it - plus it was a little hard on Loki's sensitive stomach.  I never tried PureVita.  Right now I'm feeding Earthborn.  I was feeding Fromm, but the dogs weren't eating it that great - Loki didn't finish his bowl, so Nessie would finish it, she gained A TON of weight.  I switched them to Sojos (freeze-dried raw) to get them to lose weight - after Nessie got down to a good weight (she went from 155lbs to 114lbs) I decided to try them on Earthborn.  Food has been a battle for me in my house - Denali was a picky eater then when she was battling cancer she got a different diet; Loki has a sensitive stomach; Nessie - well, she's a garbage disposal and I just have to make sure she doesn't get fat.  Fromm Four-Star is actually all-life-stage so you could start the switch now if you wanted to.

  • B- Turkey and scrambled eggs

    L- more leftover chili

D- Baked Chicken with onions, tomatos, peppers, and baked sweet potatoes.

E- CrossFit- 150 wall ball tosses for time omg...I'm going to die.

  • @Swazzle and @LivLeighton - Great job, ladies!!!!

@Southernpeach89 - Every time you mention CrossFit I honestly get more and more scared of it.  :)

B and L is the usual. B = egg whites, brocoli, cheese.  L = Black beans with quinoa.

D = Chicken salad with quinoa, cheddar cheese.

S = Apple and maybe a glass of wine.

E = Cardio circuit (45 minutes) this afternoon and dance class tonight (45 minutes).

  • @minskat30- Sometimes I'm scared of it too lol. The workouts really are tough but I think the soreness is worth it after I see results.

  • @Dignity100 Cinders is basically a garbage disposal too. She doesn't seem to care about the quality of what's in her bowl so much as the fact that something is actually IN her bowl. I guess that's the lab in her.

  • You are somewhat lucky that way @lmhollister - our dog is super picky about food.  Essentially (even though he gets great grain-free, high meat quality food) he won't eat it unless there is another dog nearby (because he's food protective).  That works for now since he goes to a daycare but we eventually want him to stay at home more often and at home he won't eat the dog food...over the weekends he won't eat anything unless we put down chicken for him.  It is impossible.
