Valentine's Day at Medieval Times

I just got an email from Medieval Times saying they have a special for Valentines Day. Am I completely crazy for wanting to go?
FI and I have been there a few times and we love it. Is it completely rediculous to go for Valentines Day?

Re: Valentine's Day at Medieval Times

  • Dude! I want to go!
  • I want to go, but our closest MT is 3 hrs away through what is predicted to be an extra 2' of snow.  =(  Stupid winter.  I keep trying to convince FI that we need to move south!

  • I am about 35 mins from the NJ castle. I really want to go. Its like $100 per couple. We would probably spend close that on dinner anyway. The email said you get a glass of champagne with dinner, a photo and one of those obnoxious blinking light up roses the more I read about it the more I want to go. Lol
I am glad I am not the only one that thinks it could be fun. Thanks ladies!

  • Result: Not ridiculous.
  • MT is super fun! I think that's a really cute way to spend VD.

We took my FIL's there for their anniversary a couple years ago. We got them the king and queen cermony, which has made for a great picture in our office.
  • I think that'd be a blast and something totally different than the typical fancy dinner out! H and I went to MT a few years ago (we're about 20 mins from the NJ one) and had SUCH a great time!

  • I have never been to MT, always thought it might be too cheesy for my taste? After reading all of this I may have to go now.
  • No, not at all.

Now this is strange to me:   The White Castle place down the road from us for the last few weeks has posted on their sign "DON'T FORGET TO MAKE YOUR WHITE CASTLE VALENTINE'S DAY RESERVATIONS.  SPACE IS FILLING UP"

I actually had to do a double take and then thought "people really do that"? I don't have a problem with having White Castle for v-day dinner. I just thinks it's funny people actually make firm plans and get a reservations to do so.

So I googled it since I was curious why you had to make reservations. Apparently, they go all out on Valentine's Day. They have red table cloths, plastic flowers and "charming decorations"*. You get free dessert too! The best part, if you are feeling the love, you can get married there too.

  • We did the VIP package at the Orlando castle when we took the kids to FL a few years ago.  We of course were pegged as tourists so FSD got picked to be our knight's "Fair Maiden", which included cheesy souvenirs for her to take home + extra photo ops for us to spend $ on (which we acknowledged but totally did anyways, because MT!!)

Now I wish we had a WC. :(
  • I would totally go to White Castle but I am also not big on Valentine's Day so it would just be for the fun of it.

    Who knew?

I'm not a WC fan    ::holds my head in shame::      My fine dining chef husband thinks it's the bomb.

  • MT is ridiculously far away for me, but I'd be right there.
  • I'd go! I think there's a castle in MD... *wheels turning*

  • I'd go.  One year, DH said he had an awesome V-Day idea.  He had heard the Symphony was doing classic love songs.  I had just heard the ad for the monster jam and thought he meant that.  I was super excited till he told me we weren't going to see the monster trucks.

  • MT sounds awesome for Valentine's Day!

Also, not only does White Castle do stuff for Valentine's Day, but someone on FB posted about McDonald's doing it too!

  • MT would be so fun!  If we weren't so broke right now, I'd suggest that to FI.

  • FI is down for the idea! I am going to wait until it gets closer to make reservation. I heard a possibility of snow on that day and I dont want to head over there if its gets bad out.
    I am kind of excited.

Oh dear. So not my thing, but more power to you!

I remember going there once as a teenager because my younger sister was dying to go. I didn't want to eat the super greasy chicken with my hands, and my dad refused to let me ask for cutlery (which they totally have available), and we got in a big fight and I ended up not enjoying it at all as a result.

I think that tainted MT for me.

Edited: fight, not fit. But I probably threw a mini fit haha

Now I'm depressed about living where I do, I'd have to go states away to get WC. Fi says to just buy the frozen ones, but doesn't understand that it's not the same.  No matter how you cook them, they just don't come out right.
  • The Today Show mentioned that some Mc Donald's are also offering candlelight dinners for V-day. I guess its a new trend?

Sadly we do not celebrate v-day.   Dh has to work so everyone else gets to celebrate.  Although I bet I could go to his bar and get food.  Apparently, I'm the only one who gets filet sliders at the bar.  They are soooo good.
