This winter blows.

DH is staying in a hotel down by work tonight because he cannot miss work at all because of the project he's working on and he's the host for all of the OOT peeps that are here for training (it's about 40 people).  He booked it for 2 nights, but is hoping that the roads are clear enough after the snow we're supposed to get to come home tomorrow night.

I don't think DH being gone so much would suck as bad if I could take the kids outside or go meet up with my friends who have kids and do stuff with them.

I cannot stop thinking about spring.  I guess I feel I can will the warmer weather to get here.  :)

Re: Snowpacalypse #2527378923 is on the way

  • My 2 oldest DDs are going crazy with this Winter.  DD #2 got a surprise layoff notice in NOV - like, hey glad you came to work but you are done as of now.  Her ex is thousands in arrears in child support so her savings had been drained.  She had to move out of her apt so she moved in with DD #1 and her DH.  That puts 6 kids under one roof while we awaited the courts decision on whether #2 could move one state to the South.  6 kids, 13 snow days in one month and it has been too cold to play outside.  It is a wonder no one has gone missing.
  • Wow.  I'll just stay in my hidey hole.  For some reason most of this winter weather is staying south of us, or east.  I'll take it.
  • I had a sinus infection.  6let had a sinus infection.  I thought M2 had an ear infection.  An hour later the doc pulled the biggest balls of wax out of her ears. I'm sick again. I just want to curl up and sleep.  I'm so cold.  They are so loud.  I can't breath with my mouth closed.

I need to hit the grocery, but at least it will be this morning.

If we get 10" DH will never make it out of our driveway.  They plow the streets, but not our cul de sac road.  It could be days before that gets done. I wonder if he could stay in a dorm.

  • We're supposed to get about 10" too.  I'm hoping I can get DefConn to the sitter tomorrow.  If not, it's going to be a long-ass day.  I really don't want to use sick time if I don't have to.
  • It's supposed to start this evening here and snow all night.  They're saying 5" max for us, so I feel like we're getting a little break with this one.
  • I'll just stay here up north where we are in the deep freeze.  We have snow but a few inches at a time - I think our biggest this year was 5" at once.  A few snow/cold days are nice but this year has been ridiculous.

  • Temps here are waaayyy below normal, but somehow we have managed to miss all of the ice/snow.  50 miles north or south have been covered but we are this narrow little band that has missed it all.  I actually wish we'd get a least a little for the kids to play in then go away fast.
  • i'm SO lucky that daycare was open today. i cannot take another day of being stuck indoors only because i don't have the proper safety precautions when it comes to leaping from one arm of the couch to the other.

and the stores were nice and empty this morning, BUT i forgot something and i have no idea if i will be able to go back tomorrow considering today is the reprieve we get before tomorrows storm.

  • We have 3-6" coming our way.  I'm just tired of dealing with it.  It's one thing when you can stay at home, but having to scrape the car, drive in it, rescrape the car, drive in it...it's getting really old.  This morning I really seriously considered just calling in, b/c I was just shuddering at the thought of scraping the car.  At least it's still just real powdery light snow.  But they're talking ice for the afternoon.  Blerg.

And my event might be canceled, which sucks, I really want to go as a group to watch the Nye/Ham debate.
  • yes. as dumb as it is to complain about the weather, life still has to go on and it's just a huge inconvenience to deal with day after day. after day.

  • I'm so freaking done with winter.  I was home sick yesterday with a horrible cold.  DS had a fever last night but it's gone for the moment, we think he's teething.  Luckily he's in good spirits.  I'm just pooped.

It's another thing when you have to stay at home with 3 crazies.  I don't remember the last time I felt this crappy.  I just want to pile on 5 blankets and sleep.
  • Feel better,6.  :(
  • We have two guest bedrooms here, and highs in the upper 60's/low 70's. Come out if you need a break!

We are good. DD slept 7 1/2 hours last night, but of course I was a dummy and didn't go to bed till late. Oh well.
  • I feel for all of you. You guys haven't gotten a break all winter.

We're heading to Disney on Friday AM if anyone cares to join us and enjoy the warmth!

  • Ugh.  I'm supposed to take the kiddo to guitar tonight.  It's about 20 min away, but the heavy snow is supposed to be hitting at that time.  Fuck this shit.
  • It's April here. I am frantically flapping my arms to send warmer weather north to all of you. We're having highs in the 60s with rain from this snowpacalypse this weekend. Any who show up at my door will be welcomed with open arms, provided margaritas, wine, fresh fruit (cause thats how we roll in FL), a place to warm up, sunshine on your face and kitty cuddles (they will happily flop beside you and headbutt your hand, arm, knee, whatever is closest).

I'm also thinking of buying a home fondue pot for FI and I. Who wants to break that puppy in?

  • DD is sick today, and I do NOT want to be cooped up in the house with her tomorrow if she's still sick and the roads are bad...  Plus, we're seeing Disney on Ice tomorrow night and none of this better ruin those plans.  (FWP)
