GM & BM Gifts...

I already have everything picked out for my BM gifts. Monogrammed cosmetic bag with tissues, bobby pins, small bottle of wine, lip gloss, gum, $5 gift card to Starbucks and something small but more personal for each one. My problem is for my GM. Fiancé is kind of having a hard time with it. We wanted to do the same as the girls. Cigar box with shot glass, single cigar, small bottle of whiskey, etc. but soon to be bro in law is only 20. What are some things we could do? Thanks! Ps. He does not do the formal thing, ie: no money clips, cuff links, watches... He is more outdoors stuff. lol

Re: GM & BM Gifts...

  • Then why not get him something outdoorsy related? Like a decent hunting knife and a giftcard to a sports/outdoors store? It doesn't have to be something sold as a "groomsman's gift" to qualify. It just should be thoughtful and with his personality/interests in mind.

FWIW my sister and her H gave their groomsmen folding knives with the GM's name engraved on the handle. FI sharpened his knife edge at home because it came pretty dull and he uses it all the time. Just adding it as a possibility if you don't have enough of a budget to spend more than $15 or $20 on a gift.

  • We do have the knife in mind.

    Thanks!

  • We did engraved Tomahawks for our groomsmen. They loved them. However, they are also the outdoorsy, hiking, love their fancy pocket knives type guys.

And we gave it to them at the Rehearsal Dinner, and they didn't bring them to the wedding so we didn't have issues with that.
  • I agree that tissues, gum, bobby pins are not gifts. Would all your BMs use a monogrammed make up bag?

Why isnt your fi figuring out his own gifts for his GM? Do they all smoke and drink whiskey?

Shop for these people like its their birthday. What would you get FBIL for a gift giving occassion?

  • I agree with PP that your BM gifts are not appropriate. Please do not shop for them at the dollar store. It doesn't need to be expensive, but I'm sure you can come up with something better to give them than gum.

I would rather have an entire bottle of wine over yet ANOTHER little makeup bag.

  • The gum bobby pins and tissues are not considered the gift. Each of my BM would actually use the bag, thats why I thought it would be a good idea. (and easy at the same time)  Like I said in my first post I have something personal for each one of my BM, and no I didnt shop at the dollar store. I thought it was just a cute idea to stuff their bags with the other little things. Im not going to shop like its their birthday. And like I said before my fiance and I are both thinking about gifts for his GM. I was just trying to ideas on what other couples had though of.

    Thanks!

Why not?  How else would you shop for a personal gift for somebody?
