Ochos Vs Montego Bay vs Negril

Any suggestions?! I am trying to figure out the best city.... I mean all resorts basically offer the same thing but the cities differ.

I have never been to Jamaica (yet) but my mom is a travel agent and she's been to just about every resort on the island for free. When she pays, she only stays in Negril, she doesn't like the other areas. She is sending me to Couples Swept Away in Negril for my honeymoon and her second choice in Jamaica is Sandals Whitehouse. Take this with a grain of salt because after being everywhere in the world for free, she tends to have higher expectations than us normal folks. But I'm really excited to go to Negril for mine

It has it's own private 7 mile beach and she claims the beach is much nicer than it is in Ochos Rios. I don't plan on going to clubs or anything of the resort really so that also factors in.

I am getting married at Ochos Rios, at the Grande Riviera on May 15 2015. I have also heard that the beach is very small, but that is not going to bother us much. Many people say that they use the Butler to reserve them a spot close to the beach. We will also spend a lot of time at the pool. We ended up choosing Ochos Rios because it was the most affordable resort and we still get the Butler service. Our seven night stay with the trip insurance will be costing about 3600.00 so we should be able to keep our total cost under 5500.00.

@jenna8984 how funny! My mom is also a travel agent and will only stay in Negril! They go to Jamaica at least once a year too. I have been there twice and both times stayed in Negril and I loved it. I think you get more real culture experience and get to interact with the locals more. Plus you can't beat having the beach and the cliffs just a few minutes apart from one another. I have had friends who stayed in Ochos Rios and had no complaints, but I have not been to that side of the island.

I've been to all three and Negril is the best by far. My first trip I stayed in Mo Bay and that was only because I went to go to Sum Fest, big reggae festival.

Second trip, I flew into Mo Bay and we drove to Negril and stayed there for a day and a half and then drove to Ochi for the rest of the week. Ochi was OK. I stayed up in the hills overlooking the cruise ship pier. It was pretty but I preferred Negril.

I'm Bermudian and in my opinion, our beaches are the best in the world so I wasn't impressed by Jamiacan beaches at all. But I will say the beaches in Negril are beautiful and I would recommend Negril over everywhere else for a honeymoon.

Of course if you want real Jamaica, you have to step away from the resorts for a bit.

I have only visited Jamaica on vacation, but I did go to the Sandals resort in Ocho Rios. It was BEAUTIFUL. The food and service was spectacular. I also have stayed in Negril and Montego Bay, but my opinion for an all-inclusive honeymoon would be Ocho Rios. Definitely take a day trip to Rick's Cafe for cliff-jumping, though!

I was in Jamaica about a year ago. We stayed at a resort in Ocho Rios and I thought it ended up being the perfect location! It was a little bit of a drive from the airport, about 45min to and hour but then everything we wanted to do outside of the resort was really close! If you are looking to go on any excursions (swimming with the dolphins or hiking dunns river falls) I would definitely recommend Ocho Rios for your stay!
