OK, y'all, this has stumped even me.
DH's brother and FI are getting married on V-Day at the MDJ. (MDJ = Courthouse wedding).
Ceremony is at 11.30 a.m.
Unclear what, if any, post-ceremony plans there are, or what they entail (other than we've been voluntold we're in charge of getting BSC grandma to and from the courthouse).
I know that we always say, "Judge the formality of an event by the formality of the invitation, the time of day, the location."
We got invited by text message. So someone tell me where that falls on the black tie/white tie/cocktail attire scale.
I'm tentatively planning to wear a nice pair of slacks and a nice sweater -- kind of like what I'd wear to church -- because the (10+ day) weather forecast says it's going to be cold, so I'd rather not wear a skirt, and having DH dress the same.
Thoughts? Am I in the right ballpark?
FWIW, DH had a massive struggle explaining to his brother that, no, jeans and your Dallas Cowboys jacket are NOT appropriate attire for a Catholic Mass, ESPECIALLY when you are a GM.
I'm gonna go with 'not my circus, not my monkeys.'
