Asheville favor ideas

Hi! I'm getting married in Asheville this summer, and I want to use some sort of edible product as a favor.  However, a lot of people are flying, so anything liquidy is out, and I'm also unsure about chocolate because it might melt. I am also trying to keep it inexpensive. Anyone have any ideas?

Re: Asheville favor ideas

  • There are some great local jams and jellies, the tomato jam or smoked trout dip from Sunburst would be especially nice, these run $8-$12 per jar, and you don't have to get one for every single person, just one for each family, but you're right, I'm not sure they can go in carry on luggage. Another idea is a truffle from the Chocolate Fetish (you could put in a custom box or sticker from Oriental Trading). The good thing with chocolate -- no one can resist eating it, so no worries about packing it! Make sure your caterer is using some local fare as well, and labeling it as such, so they will get a "taste of asheville" that way, too.
  • Thanks @eivery17316! Yeah I think anything jam or liquid is out due to TSA regulations. I was considering chocolate so thanks for the rec. We're also going to see if our cake baker can do cake pops or cookies or something.

And yes, local is a priority of ours! Our caterer is using a ton of local products and we're also going to be using locally farmed flowers :-).
  • How about coffee (either whole bean or already ground)?
Asheville Coffee Roasters has amazing coffee and you could give each couple/family a small bag.
I'm not sure if airlines have a problem with coffee, but it's not liquid and in an air tight bag or jar it won't go bad. And obviously, it's local.

Also, French Broad Chocolate Lounge makes cookies that are really good. Peanut butter, chocolate chip, gingerbread with chocolate. Lots of choices. Maybe worth looking into.
