How long did you have to wait to see your wedding photos?

For all the married ladies out there, how long did you have to wait until you got to see your wedding photos? I am curious what the norm has been in the NJ area recently....

Thanks!

Re: How long did you have to wait to see your wedding photos?

  • I still havent seen mine and my wedding was in September. I havent heard from my photographer either.

  • Not married yet, but my photographer said 3-4 weeks and that's what the contract says.
  • We got married in October 2012 and got a sneak peek (20 photos or so) in December 2012.  We didn't get the full set of proofs until March 2013.

  • I got married in March and got my photos in June. It did take 13 months to get my album though.

  • I saw 50 previews the next day.  I receive all of my photos, edited, within 6 weeks.

Interesting; thanks for the responses. It sounds like there is quite a bit of variety.

  • I thought I would revive this post to see if anyone else had input (either how long they waited for their photos or what your photographer has told you/put in the contract).

@majesty318..... Before you get worried, I will say that her work is amazing. I didn't want to get anyone in a tizzy about it.

Yes, our contract also had a lot of handwritten notes! Picking a photographer stressed me out SO MUCH and we went with her because of all the good reviews.

At the end of the day, I would much much much rather have great photos than so-so photos that I get to see right away.

BUT I completely empathize about being annoyed and not having the contract. We have a copy of what we signed, but I don't know that she ever signed and returned it. Plus, as I am sure is the case with you, it was not the most official contract. She handwrote a lot of it on the bottom. I took her for her word at the time because she is just such a genuine person and we were excited to have found someone that we liked. The good news is that you don't make your final payments until you see proofs and get the albums, but I am still annoyed. I am at about 2.5 months and I know it will take her quite a bit longer.

I think she is very busy and gets caught up in all of the work...easily and quickly falling behind. I had a feeling she would take awhile, but was curious if others had a similar experience.
Wait, you didn't get a fully executed contract?  What if this person never delivers?  You have no recourse.

FWIW, we had digital copies of all our photos 2 weeks after our wedding.

I agree with Joan.  I have executed contracts with every single vendor I am working with.  All of them made me copies when they were signed.

The photographer I am using promised digital prints within 3 weeks of the wedding.  After I choose my 110 photos for the album it will be another 6 weeks until I get my album since that is the processing time.

I have the rights to all the digital prints so I will be able to order prints as soon as I get the flash drive.

I said that I was not sure that I had an executed copy because I THINK it might have been sent back to my parents (although we met with her, it was my parents who signed the contract and paid).

  • My photographer told us 2 weeks after our wedding we have our viewing to pick photos for our albums. Then 6weeks after we get the albums and all the photos on a flash drive with the rights.

To others who are using the same photographer, I reached out yesterday and she was quick to reply and set a date for next week to view all of the photos.

I have edited my comments above (other than the original question) to remove some things that might have been taken the wrong way. I have been contacted my photographer who was hurt by how I represented her and I apologize. She is an incredibly talented, passionate photographer which is why I have recommended her over and over on this forum and why I gave her such a great review. She went above and beyond to make it a good experience and her work is top notch.  It was never my intention to misrepresent her or to shed a bad light on her work. I only reached out on here to see what the "norm" was because I did not want to be a pest. Good luck to everyone and thank you again for your feedback!

If it is not too much to ask, those of you who quoted my comments above, would you mind removing the quoted text? Thank you so much.

Sounds like she caught wind of the posts on here based on your next post and is trying to fix the problem.  That's great news!   I don't think any of your posts were misrepresenting her though.....you were just stating factual timelines and your feelings.....there's nothing wrong with that.

I find that sometimes the only way something gets fixed is by bringing the problem to social media.  I'm glad it worked for you!

  • Being a photographer myself, 3-4 weeks is standard.  Anything longer than that and I have no idea what your photographer is doing with their time...
