Another snow day!--And now one more! UGH!

We have another snow day tomorrow. This is our 14th. FOURTEENTH! We now have two full extra weeks of school in June (we start in August and are normally done by Memorial Day). I don't curse, but this really makes me want to...

Update: I thought for sure we'd just have a delay tomorrow, but that was maybe wishful thinking. We are closed yet again...

    I know it sounds ridiculous to complain about a day off, but it's just getting ridiculous. We have had maybe 5 or 6 full days of school since Christmas, and haven't had a full, normal week since before Thanksgiving. It's been a pain trying to adjust lesson plans--I've started and scrapped several units, and others have dragged on FOREVER! But with only having a couple days, then a few off, then a couple days, we're constantly having to review, and then just inching forward.

    (And if one more person asks me, "So, are we going to be done with school in time for the wedding?", I am going to lose it...)

    My sister was told it would be 3 days before that get power. Kids will be off for the rest of the week.  the missed Monday also.   Crazy.






    What differentiates an average host and a great host is anticipating unexpressed needs and wants of their guests.  Just because the want/need is not expressed, doesn't mean it wouldn't be appreciated.

    Yikes! We at least have power. It hasn't been any major storms here, just continuing to get hit with 4-6", which closes us for several days because they don't have the equipment to deal with it. But now we're up to 3/4 of a month of school missed...and you know that make-up days in June aren't going to be nearly as productive.

    (And the first thing I did after getting the call tonight was pour myself a glass of wine!)

    Sister just got power back.  2 of the schools still don't so no school for them.  That makes 4 snow days and 1 2 hours delay for this week.






    What differentiates an average host and a great host is anticipating unexpressed needs and wants of their guests.  Just because the want/need is not expressed, doesn't mean it wouldn't be appreciated.

    They showed some of the snow on the news tonight.  They also showed people driving, right through intersections and stop signs going about 50kms, and looking surprised that they couldn't stop.  Seriously??  Slow down people!!  They almost mowed down the news camera, so you got a good look

    Here, I thought MN was bad.  For A's school, they lost 2 days in the summer because it was too hot, and not all the rooms were air conditioned.  (She starts at the end of August).  Then, we have lost 3 or 4 more days because of wind chills.  So far, they are just planning to use 2 make up days during the school year.

    I'm getting really tired of the snow. They've actually run out of places to put it. Our office building's parking lot is usually packed since there are several companies in it. Well, when they plowed, they couldn't push the snow any further up on top of the snow that was already there, so now the entire back row of parking can only fit half a car. I have no idea how they're going to fit everyone in there tomorrow. The roads were already getting icy when we left today, and our lot wasn't any better. I foresee some Olympic level car-skating!

    On the plus side, at least we're not going to get the 30" they were originally predicting for this weekend!
