Considering David's Bridal?

I'm putting this out there because I read quite a few bad reviews about David's Bridal! I live within walking distance of one though so I was still going to try despite the reviews.

I literally had an amazing experience there. Everyone was exceptionally nice and professional and helpful and I found my dress within the hour. I went to the David's Bridal in Victorville CA and I strongly reccommend it to any brides searching for their dress or bridesmaid dresses!

If you'd like more details on the visit, I wrote a blog post on it here (Even if you don't read it...I hope the point comes across that David's Bridal was awesome to me!):

  • Nice to hear a good review of DB>

  • I feel like DB varies by store! I went to one near me for a BM dress and the sales associates were very nice.  I thought the store was fine and they had a lot of dresses in different sizes, which is a big plus! However, I didn't think they were as informative as other private salons I've gone to, and I found it strange they didn't take our measurements at all.  Also, I wasn't a bride there, just a BM so that is a significant factor. Another weird thing is a friend and I went together and ordered the exact same dress and she received an email the other day saying her dress was in.  I haven't heard anything from them at all.  I just find that a bit strange since our dress was literally ordered at the same time!

  • I hear tons of bad reviews so I didn't even consider them for my dress search, plus I didn't feel there was much they had to offer (based on their website) that I wanted to try. But, we did stop in on a whim for BM dresses and they were very friendly. We definitely didn't get much help in the way of a sales associate, but we dealt with it. We'll be ordering the BM dresses through them.
  • David's bridal is a mass market store. If you know that going into it, it makes it easier to deal with them sometimes. I think alot of the indiviual sales women really want to give you allthe attention they can but they book them up so much that it makes it hard for them to focus on just one bride at a time. I haven't always had the best experiences there, but the good expeiences are the ones that make up for the crappy ones.
  • Agreed that DB stores can vary, I had fine experiences at all the stores I visited with my attendants who are scattered, except that one of them seemed rather chaotic, not sure if the store was always like that or if we hit them at a bad time.  I found that things were usually fine if the appointment was in the first or second time slot of the day.
Whoever said it was supposed to be happily ever after is a big fat liar.
  • I'm getting both my dress and my bridesmaid's dresses from David's Bridal. My consultant was Terrible. But the manager that took over my appointments when my consultant disappeared was helpful, friendly and knowledgeable. The other consultants that I watched and who stopped to help me didn't make a big deal out of the fact that I wasn't their client. I didn't hear 'I'll see where your consultant is' from any of them. That makes my day when everywhere seems to give you the run around anymore.

But when I go shopping again with my mother and grandmother, who will not tolerate my consultant's disappearing act, I will be asking for a new consultant.
  • I just went into DB on Monday and purchase my dress. The consultant there was very helpful and cater to my every need. I've heard a lot of bad reviews on them and has been hesitate to walk in there. But I am really glad I did the other day. It was a great experience for me. :)

  • My consultant was very sweet but pressured me into trying on more expensive dresses when I had a very specific look (and price point) I was in search of and the 2 of my bridesmaids that did go into stores for help (one in Michigan, one in New York) had very poor experiences and were actually given incorrect information - they said they looked online for my bridesmaids dresses and that they were totally sold out, not true (double checked the website, called AND placed an order).  The dresses are on their way now (they're coming a week after they were originally supposed to come according to my order confirmation) so it worked out but it was stressful.
  • I went to David's Bridal and had a wonderful time!!! All the consultants were very nice and mine was amazing. I told her what I want and knew exacly what to get!. Pus she was very helpful.  I didn't have an appointment, it was an hour and a half until closing and very busy, but they took me anyway. Also, if you buy your dress there, your bridesmaids get a discount off their dresses and many savings with DB's partners.
