Rehearsal Dinner

We are having a very informal rehearsal dinner at my FIL's house. Of course the whole wedding party plus our grandparents are invited. Question: do I need to invite all the aunts and uncles? There's 27 of them. 6 are out-of-towners. We're on a budget, and that doubles our list. However, 2 are staying at FIL's house that weekend so obviously they will be there. What to do....just bite the bullet and invite everyone, or keep it the way we have it...?

Re: Rehearsal Dinner

  • Who is hosting? If its your ILs then they get to decide whether or not to invite the aunt and uncles. Can your FILs house hold that many extra people?

Personally I think inviting wedding party + SOs, parents and grandparents is comepltely normal. I would suggest you invite in circles. So either all the aunts and uncle or none. This way your avoid hurt feelings.

  • If my FILs were hosting our rehearsal dinner at their house and were paying for it, I would leave it up to them. If it was at their house with my budget (which is small and already stretched!), I would only invite the wedding party and our closest family members.
  • Yes it's at his house, but we are footing the bill. Thanks for the advice! Think we're gonna stick to the original idea
