  When I got a save the date card, it had both my name and my now fiancé's name. We were not yet living together or engaged, but we had been in a serious relationship. I think it's nice to have both names.

  I agree. If it's a serious relationship, I would include their name as well. You never know, they could be married someday!

  Yes, invite them both by name.

  
  

  You don't have to communicate to truly single guests about whether they will get a plus one with the STD, but you do need to include all significant others.

  I just went through this myself. We put the significant other's name on the save-the-date, even for couples that didn't live together. It's a tough call, but I finally decided, "If I were the guest or the significant other in this situation, I think I'd like to have both names. It would make me feel like my relationship was recognized and respected."

  I just did this on Saturday and yes I included the SOs on there just as a courtesy. If something happens then the invite can just go to the original guest
