Wedding Woes

Any romantical plans for V-Day?

I'm going to a comedy show with a friend and dinner. It's about a zero on the romantic scale, but should be fun.

You ladies putting the kids to bed early and getting some action?

Re: Any romantical plans for V-Day?

  • DH and I are probably going to have a date night on Saturday if my IL's can watch the kids.  It's not really *for* v-day...We actually need to sit down without distraction and outside of the daily grind to really talk about what's going on with his job situation and the relocation stuff.  Right now it's just these quick conversations before we have something else more pressing that needs to be handled.

And I'm sure there will be bcbc at the end of the date. ;)  V-day is our 10 year bcbc anniversary.  Hubba, hubba.
  • My mom is coming over to watch the kids on Saturday. We are going to the flooring store to possibly buy tile, and then dinner and maybe a movie. I have not left DD with anyone for bedtime and my anxiety level is already high over this. Daycare is one thing, this is another. No idea on if we'll have any bcbc. We've only done it once since DD has been born and it was not entirely pleasant.
  • Saturday is a work dinner, pretty casual, so I'd rather either a. Stay home and have a nice dinner with H or b.  Go out for a later dinner with H on V-day.  I did buy some rather raunchy undergarments, so I'll see how those go over.

  • We celebrate on the 13th, the day he proposed.  I accidentally found out that he ordered me flowers because the man doesn't have his own email address.  He thought he was being slick by using the credit card whose statement I won't see before then, but forgot that they'd send an email confirmation.

We will probably go out to eat, maybe even kidless.

  • I'm just using it as an excuse to make a fancy dinner.
  • Oh, I did get DH a new Waterpik. The romance is alive!
  • It's so close to my birthday and I'd rather do something for that, so probably not anything.
  • No idea. I only have morning clinic that day, maybe I will make a nice dinner. My brother and two of our single friends are talking about hitting up one of the brewery/distilleries here for their v day stuff, which sounds good, but I think they want to wallow in their single-ness. All of them struck out recently. I think they will live though.
  • I got FI a new charcoal grill and told him since I bought it, I got to demand we break it in Friday night. He was actually relieved I didn't want to go out for dinner.

We're cooking together (he's grilling, I'm doing the veggies, some of which may or may not be in microwavable steam bags), and starting our House of Cards Season 2 marathon.

I may get a pricey bottle of vino for the hell of it. My el cheapo moscato and red blend are in the cupboard, ready to go.

  • I AM SO EXCITED FOR HOUSE OF CARDS SEASON 2.  DH is too.  We've been debating taking a half day or something.

I just watched the first episode of Season 1 last night and am immediately hooked. But I'm a sucker for any show that involves a lot of conniving and power games. Speaking of which, Game of Thrones is almost back!!
  • Varuna, so am I! I can't take the time off, but an evening of steaks and wine, capped with more wine, cuddling, HOC, and potential action works for me!

Plus, our townhouse is getting pest controlled Friday. Its the only day they could come in (aside from last week, but that would have messed with my mom's allergies). So even if I could take the time off, I would be banned from my house for a few hours anyway. I may make FI get up at 4:30 and watch the first episode of season 2 with me while I hopefully walk on the treadmill.

  • We've been rewatching Season 1, just to remember all of the ins/outs of the power plays.  I had forgotten some of it.  Just re-watched the episode with the brick.  And I am not looking forward to re-watching Peter's terrible episode.  Poor poor Peter, he never had a chance once Frank got hold of him.
  • Melting Pot on Thursday night while my IL's keep the kids a little later than usual. On Friday, we have Baby A's "I love you lunch" at school and we'll probably take the kids out for pizza that night.

Meg, I get what you're feeling. On Saturday, we'll be going out and leaving both kids with a babysitter who is not family. I absolutely hate this, but I need a more reliable sitter. My IL's are great during the week, but they need a weekend break of course.

  • My mom offered to keep the kids Saturday night, but she's been taking care of so many people lately I didn't want to put her out anymore.  We usually do steaks on the grill, but it's been to cold to even light the grill.  I'm going with we're doing nothing.  I bought DH a chocolate bar and a card.  I found the heart shaped box of chocolates he got me.  whooohoooo.

  • I watched Season 1 this weekend. I can't wait for Season 2. I know what I'll be doing at 1 am when DD is up for her feeding!
  • For those who have just started watching House of Cards....wait till you're about 3 episodes in, and have gotten a real taste for Frank's mannerisms and attitudes. Then go on youtube and search for House of Nerds 2013 and/or nerd prom- they did a spoof bit for the white house correspondents dinner, and it's hysterical if you've watched the show.
  • Ooo, I'm going to have to do that!
  • We've got a lot of options but haven't settled on anything.  DH's birthday is 2/17 so we're throwing that in there, too.   We may go to an OSU hockey game and we may also go to the zoo.  The zoo left their lights up this year to do a Valentine's weekend thing.  If its not too cold we'll do that for sure.
We also need to find a time to go to the Brazilian Steakhouse for his bday.  Maybe Sunday for that, but we'll have to find a sitter.
  • I didn't know that about the zoo lights! We may need to consider that.
  • Nada. I'm going to watch fiance play in a hockey tournament all weekend (starting on the 14th) and we are saving up to build a gaming computer, so I think we might just make steak and chill.
