NWR: Sizes

this is non-wedding related, but i'm curious... I've recently lost about 30lbs (on weight watchers) over the past year. I am currently a size 6 in dress pants, going into a size 4 (my pants are super baggy on my legs and loose around the waist). I am going to a wedding in 3 weeks that is in AZ so I figured I’d need a new dress that my size 8 that I bought back in August wouldn’t fit me (I was also a size 8 dress pants at that time)… WRONG. Apparently… all of the dresses that fit me were size 8s. If I went into a 6 then the zipper wouldn’t zip.. does anyone else have this issue?

Re: NWR: Sizes

  • Your bust size must not have changed (lucky you!!!).... could you get the dress you already have taken in around the waste? I often have to buy shirts and dresses that are a size or two big because they dont fit my bust... and I am not even that busty! It is annoying.....

  • haha i'm not even busy at all! In fact when i was bigger my bust wasn't too much bigger.. So annoying.. i'm guessing it's because of my build.. it sounds so weird tho.. i wear a size 4 dress pant but my dress is a size 8! oh well at least it isn't a 14 anymore :).

  • This happens to me too.  I am pretty busty but also just seem to be wider though my chest.  The size is just a number, I wouldn't worry about it.  I am sure you look amazing and can see the difference.

I know how you feel. I had weight loss surgery in April 2011, and have lost just under 80lbs so far. I am currently a size 14 moving into a size 12. My pant size is a 12 but my tops are still a 14. My bra size went from a 44DDD to a 38D, so needless to say my problem area is in the bust. As a matter of fact my wedding dress size 14 fits absolutely perfect right now, but it is a little tight on the bust area. I am struggling with figuring out how to lose weight in the bust area. Any ideas?

  • Dress sizes run smaller, I have found, compared to pants.

I have issues with shirts. I am busty so I have to go the next size up, but then it is baggy in the shoulder area and my waist. I also have to go up a dress size usually to accomodate my butt and boobs. :S

  • I wear a size 4 dress pant and a size 8 dress too. I think they tend to run small.
