Niagra falls honeymoon?

We originally want to go to Greece this year but sinve our weddjng is comming up fast. We decided to go somewhere in the USA...driving distance. I suggested niagra falls but now I'm not so excited about it. My fiancé wants to go but it doesn't look there is much to do beside the falls. Any attraction to or around niagra? I also suggested to him virginia but I think that idea is out.

We live in ct. I like sightseeing. Museums and flea markets. Fiancé likes sightseeing. Trails. Lots of adventure. The thing is I've already been there almost 17yrs ago as a kid. And don't remember it as fun,

If you are going in the summer, make sure you have a passport or an enhanced driver's license. I hate to be  a traitor to the states, but the view is breathtaking on the canadian side.  I live in Buffalo, and there is a lot to do in Niagara falls.  There is the Cave of the winds (a deck that takes you to the bottom of the falls... you will get soaked), there is also the Maid of the Mist (you will get soaked), the Whirlpool jet boat tours, goes over the lower rapids of the falls (you will get soaked). Lol. There is the Butterfly conservatory in Canada (butterflies will land on you as you are walking through the gardens.  And there is also Niagara-on-the-Lake. A quaint place with amazing Bed and Breakfasts, and there are also several wineries to go wine-tasting. And the Pillar and Post is an amazing spa, if you would like a day to unwind. There are huge flea markets in Buffalo and The Albright-Knox art gallery.
My favorite place for a mini-getaway is Ithaca, and it might be closer to you.  Tons of small waterfalls, amazing bed and breakfasts, lots of hiking, and swimming beneath waterfalls. Really neat artistic shops, the Corning museum of glass, The science museum, kayaking rentals, horseback riding, and amazing wine tasting.  The pictures you take at Watkins Glen (a little distance from Ithaca), Treman Falls, and Buttermilk falls always look like they were made for a postcard. And the antique shops there are numerous.

We did niagra falls for our honeymoon, and we did it in November. It was cold along the falls and a lot of stuff was closed for the season. But we hit the casino, went to a few wineries in Niagara on the Lake area, went to the Butterfly conservatory and a few other places along the way.

There is a ton more to do on the canadian side compared to the american side though. While directly in the falls area, a WEGO bus pass is a great way to get around. Check into a discovery pass, it gives you access to lots of places, you can save a lot of money that way.

We live in PA and took a road trip to the Adirondacks and Montreal. It was wonderful. That would combine your sightseeing and flea markets with his adventure. If you don't have a passport, you could also head up to the coast of Maine. Freeport, Booth Bay, Mount Desert Island, etc. It's really pretty up there.

There's lots to do in Niagara Falls on the Canadian side now- there's tons of restaurants, wineries, etc. I think it's a really good choice : )

You will need passports to go to the Canadian side.

I have to second the whirlpool jet boats (SO.MUCH.FUN), walking around Niagara-on-the-Lake, and going to the wineries, especially for the ice-wine.

I definitely think you could make a really full, fun honeymoon out of it.  Stay at one of the beautiful bed and breakfasts instead of a hotel.  But yes, most of the fun is on the Canadian side (although you should go see the American side too), so you need your passport!

What time of year are you planning on going on your honeymoon?  That could make a big difference.

If you want to spend some time in the Finger Lakes (wineries, and a growing beer scene) it's lovely.  There are tons of fabulous B&Bs, and it's quite nice.  The Finger Lakes could be a stop on your way up to Niagra Falls if you didn't want to spend an entire week at the Falls.  There are lots of walking paths and nice hikes in the Finger Lakes too; and beautiful gorges!

If it's wintertime, you could drive up to the 'dacks and check out one of the nicer lodges there.  During February, Saranac Lake has it's ice festival, and it's fun.  I think the Adirondacks are good year round.

You could go out to Cape Cod, coastal ME, etc. if you want Ocean.

You could do a brewery tour through VT, there is great hiking and excellent beer.  Near Burlington VT (which is a great place to visit) there are a few museums; all smaller.

If you are going in the Fall, VT, NH, and the Adirondacks are all awesome options for sightseeing.

And if you pass through the Berkshires, there are TONS of cutesy antique stores.
