DH sent me a lovely bouquet of flowers and box of chocolates to me at work. The card says "Be my valentine! -Your Husband" My boss took a picture to send to her husband.

  • So sweet.

So jealous.  DH is missing the romance gene, he also despised Valentine's day.  As in he refuses to acknowledge it exists.

What differentiates an average host and a great host is anticipating unexpressed needs and wants of their guests.  Just because the want/need is not expressed, doesn't mean it wouldn't be appreciated.
  • Aw, that's sweet. Romance isn't my husband's strong suit.
  • That is so sweet!

  • Awwww how sweet of him! I'm secretly hoping that FI has flowers delivered to me at work this year but if nothing else, I know there will be some waiting at home for me Friday when I get out of work.
  • Awww! We don't tend to make a big deal out of holidays but I secretly hope FI does something like that. I got us the tickets to a special dinner so I hope I get a little something. NBD if not, but it would be nice.

Our first valentine's day, he forgot. lol.

He did send flowers on my birthday when I ended up having to move out of state the week before my birthday. That was really nice.

FI and I don't make a big deal out of Valentine's Day. I'm not a flowers person, but he bought giant rose bouquets our first 2 V-Days together - even though he is extremely allergic. I told him he didn't have to buy me roses, so he stopped. Then one year he bought me flowers from the gas station (I know because the tag was still on the basket, oops). He paid a small fortune for them, too. I told him that while I appreciated it, to please not buy me flowers from the gas station ever again since they still smelled like gas. He's gotten me carnations the last few years, but we agreed that there would be no flowers, candies, or cards this year since we are in crunch-time to save the rest of the money for the wedding (we have the budget money, now we want a cushion in case there are unexpected expenses or emergencies). I secretly hope he at least sends me an e-card, though! lol

  • We love to celebrate, whether that's "real" holidays like Christmas, or Hallmark holidays like Valentine's, or made up holidays, like Margarita Day. It's not the most fiscally sound practice, but it is fun!
