Color ideas please!

My bridesmaids are wearing Begonia <fuchsia> dresses and my colors are Begonia and tangerine. They are wearing converse, the guys are wearing grey converse...what color should the girls wear? grey too?

Honestly, I dislike bridesmaid dresses with more casual shoes such as converse.  That said, perhaps the shoes could be that same sort of colour as the dress (like picture below)

ETA  You should be paying for the shoes BTW (no, it does not count as a BM gift) & if I was one of your BMs, I would have to purchase sole inserts so that I could have some sort of arch support in those things.

  • Not to be a jerk... but are the dresses short?  Converse are really NOT flattering for the calf, so if you're having short dresses, it's worth thinking about.  @doeydo's pic is a good example of how the sneaker makes the calves look odd; although I do 2nd her opinion that if you're stuck on doing this, a color similar to the dress works and that you should be purchasing the sneakers for the BMs, and not as part of their gift.

FWIW, I wear sneakers ALL OF THE TIME.  I would rather not wear them when I'm trying to be fancy.

  • I agree, it is fine for the guys to wear a more laid back shoe, but it looks odd to wear sneakers with a dress. Maybe you could have them in something equally casual that would still flatter the look of the dress, such as a jeweled sandal or some sort of flats/wedges in the same grey color the GM are wearing. If you are set on the converse idea then try to match the dresses, but keep in mind they are not the most comfortable, and they are meant to be worn with socks.
  • We all live in Converse and it's my personality so I'm not worried what it will look like. I was just wondering what color would look the best with a Fuchsia dress :) Thank you for all the opinions on it, I already planned on buying my BM shoes I'm not sure where you got the impression I wasn't buying them or that they were part of their gift lol.  Thanks for the advice tho :)
  • you can find a bunch of color options for converse online.  I had good luck years ago on ebay when we needed orange converse for a dance routine.  As for color, if you can match the dress color I know they do have some fuchsia shades, but the silver (glittery) would work too (and they at least would maybe get more use out of the silver/neutral color than they would with fuchsia).  It is great you are buying, but also think about what your best option is to get more use out of them so it is not a waste of your money too.

  • Not gray, but shiny silver or gold (glittery?), begonia, or tangerine. I would just make sure the girls are ok with it and think it will be fun to wear those. Even if they like converse in everyday life, they might feel self conscious about how they look in formal pictures if the dresses are short and they don't like their legs.
