Nevada-Las Vegas

my wedding is 4/29/14 - and i have questions about vendors...

Hi Everyone!

Gosh, I wish I had found this board sooner.  I'm currently feeling pretty anxious about my wedding.  I was married once before but it was a traditional big old circus of a wedding. This time around I'm hightailing it to Vegas with my groom and it'll be just us - well, his mom will be there to witness the ceremony and stand up for both of us, which makes me very happy, I'm lucky to be getting her as a mom-in-law.

Anyway, I was spoilt the first time around by the lovely ladies at Disney who planned my wedding like the fairytale creators they are.  So dealing directly with vendors is new for me and I'm really nervous.  So any experience or tips you have would be helpful.

Here's what I PLAN to do:

We are getting married by the mobile officiant at Las Vegas Luv Bug.  We are staying at the Wynn and want to just get married quickly and quietly on the grounds.  We understand that as long as you are under a roof you can't do this but otherwise we should be ok.  Has anybody else done this?  How did it work?  We plan to wander around the night before our wedding, looking for specific locations at the Wynn and Bellagio to see what hits us - the ceremony is set for 7:30pm and it's on a Tuesday.  Las Vegas Luv Bug provides video and photography as part of their package.  I wish I had the money to hire separately but this is what we are working with - anybody have experience with their photographers?

I plan to have hair/makeup people come to me in my room at the Wynn - I like Stevee Danielle the best so far - anybody used them?  I can't budget more than $160 for this service and they fit right in.

Lastly, I want to use The Palette for my florist - I can't believe how great Pam's prices are and I'm reading good reviews of her work.  Anybody else use them?

Oh and another thing - tipping - HELP! do i tip the photographer and the officiant separately?  They are a package deal, not sure how it works.  And what percentage do I tip everybody?

I guess that's it.  Thanks in advance for your help!

Cheers!

  • So you do or dont have a wedding location to get married at?

  • I guess technically we don't.  The way they describe it on the Las Vegas Luv Bug website is that basically you can just stand anywhere, as long as it's not under a roof, and have your ceremony.  Sure, it's not the most private way to do it and it's supposed to be fast.  Apparently people do it.  I guess I was hoping that somebody here had done this before.  Does this sound like a bad idea? Yikes.

We discussed it but the FI didn't like the fact that random people will be wandering around during our ceremony. We opted to get married on the balcony of our suite by Julie Nourish. The mirage has some lovely spots to have a ceremony and I understand you can also do it by the fountains at the Bellagio. Have you considered the Vegas sign? That was my first choice but when I watched videoes I didn't personally like how crowded it seemed to be. I will look through my emails with Julie and find some of the public places she suggested if you like (some have pictures I can send you if you are interested) and let you know. Also Luv Bug might have some favorite spots to recommend.

Thank you so much for your response.  By the fountains at Bellagio is one of my first choices if we can't find somewhere on the grounds of the Wynn.  There are several pictures on their website that show weddings there.  We're also considering getting married in our room, I'd so much rather it be outside though... I just want to be under the stars for our ceremony, it just feels special and romantic to me.

I don't know why I'm suddenly questioning my choices so much.  Perhaps because I spent all day reading yelp, wedding wire and knot reviews and suddenly I began to freak out about the possible disasters that may be lying ahead that I had just assumed would never be a problem.   I'm pretty sure I was freaking out a lot harder before my first wedding...   But I need to chill out, for sure! lol
  • Welcome fellow April Bride!

Reviews can be a blessing and a curse!

There are heaps of gorgeous places to get married on and around the strip. The grounds at the Wynn are stunning and i agree with the PP about considering the Mirage and Bellagio Fountains. Perhaps you can decide when you get to Vegas.

  • Yay and thank you for the warm welcome!  :)  I'm going to relax about it and stop worrying.  Looking forward to hearing about your big day!
  • I would talk to your officiant about the Wynn; if he or she has done ceremonies there before, they may have some suggestions on locations.  I wouldn't worry too much about whether you're under a roof or not; yes it's against their rules, but people do all kinds of things in and around all the resorts all the time and I don't see them sending security in to bust up your ceremony unless you're doing it in the gaming area.  Venetian outlaws third party photographers from the entire property for example, but you never hear about anyone actually being kicked out.

  • Yes, that's kind of how I see it.  I figure we are a small enough little party - bride, groom, officiant, MIL and photographer - that we won't be interesting enough to bother with.  Thank you for your reassuring words, I need to hear them right now! :)
