Honoring parents

FI and I are both really close to our parents and we would like to honor them in our wedding ceremony and also thank them by taking them out to dinner the night before the wedding. We are thinking of adding something like this to the beginning of our ceremony:

(Brides Name) and (Grooms Name) want to acknowledge their parents on this occasion,  (Brides Name) and (Grooms Name)  offer their profound gratitude to their parents for all the love and care they showed in raising them. The unconditional gifts of love and support that you have continually offered have inspired them to become who they are today, and they thank you, from the bottom of their hearts, for guiding them to this celebration of love here today. Without you, this day would not be possible.

I will be modifying it so it better reflects what we want the reading to say, but it will be short and sweet. I have bought pins and wrist corsages for our mothers and a bout for FI's dad. We have also decided that FI's dad will be our 'witness' for the marriage certificate.

I'm now looking for some suggestions/advice on where to take them for dinner the night before the wedding. At the moment we have a reservation booked at Olive's at the Bellagio because it is close to where we are staying, but we were also considering the Ballymore, Mon Ami Gabi, MiX and Alize. I know that the Ballymore and Alize are off the strip and that is ok cos we would arrange transportation. Olive's or anything mid strip would definitely be more convenient for everybody as we could all just meet at the restaurant.

We are open to any cuisine and would like to keep Entrees under $60p/p cos we have budgeted about $500 - $600 for the dinner for 5 including drinks and gratuity.

Re: Honoring parents

  • Do y'all like Thai food? There is a chef famous off strip place called Lotus of Siam. It isn't fancy but the food is supposed to be phenomenal. BTW your honoring of your parents made me tear up.

  • I will check out the Thai restaurant, thanks. Im walking down the aisle with my mum which tears me up just thinking about it. So im sure by the time the officiant reads the parental honoring, I will be fully teared up.

  • oh I have to agree about Lotus of Siam - unbelievably good thai food and a nice wine list too!  I've had several fabulous meals there.
