Seeing fabulous ideas... holding back the urge to make changes!!!!

Anyone else have everything decided and ordered/ready to go and then see an idea either here or on Pinterest and instantly have to fight the urge to change things!? You ladies are all brilliant! And have amazing ideas!

Re: Seeing fabulous ideas... holding back the urge to make changes!!!!

  • Honestly, no I haven't but I can understand wanting to lol
  • It is hard- but that is why when you have made decisions, you need to stay away from pinterest! It is almost like keeping trying on dresses when you have already chosen one.

Just resign yourself to the fact that trends are going to pop up 6 months/ a year after your wedding that you wish you had at your nuptials but there is nothing you can do.

I have been using the shoe test. If I see a pair of shoes I like, I leave them and if I am still thinking about them in 2 weeks' time, I'll go back and get them. There is no harm in changing 1 or 2 things with your wedding, but make sure that it is REALLY what you want and not just a cute throwaway trend. If you give yourself 2 changes in your wedding maximum, it will really make you focus on what you want and see if it is worth one of your "changes".
  • This is why I am happy that I didn't discover Pinterest until after my wedding.  I would have driven myself crazy.  Back away from Pinterest.

  • I intentionally refuse to get involved with Pinterest.  This is one of the many reasons.  My planner tried to force me to do it to "give her ideas" but i passed.  That is the last thing i need to be wasting time on.
  • I avoided Pinterest wedding boards while I was planning for that very reason!  I wouldn't say I made drastic changes right before my wedding, but I did have a few last-minute ideas (like, three days before the wedding) that resulted in some running around/craziness.  Totally brought it upon myself :p
  • I have had a different experience with Pinterest than most of you!  I love it and have gotten some great ideas from it.  At first I went pin crazy, pinning everything I liked, and then later on, after I had a better idea of my wedding theme and style I deleted all of the pins that didn't fit in or that I decided simply weren't worth doing.  That being said, I was not working much in the fall and had a heck of a lot of time on my hands, and after spending (I don't want to know how many) hours browsing wedding stuff I developed a really clear vision of what I would like.

Yet I can understand why it doesn't work for some people.  I am normally pretty indecisive about things, in which case it might be better to steer away.  I just wanted to put that out there because it could be beneficial for some brides!
  • Yes, but I viewed all decisions as final and refused to change my mind. Stay strong!
  • The only thing I really like Pinterest for is hair and makeup styles. It's great to see what other people have done, but we have chosen things that are unique to us and that reflect our style as a couple. That is what makes it special for us, and what will stand out from all of the other weddings we attend and pictures we may find. Just remember it is about you and your FI, and anything the two of you choose to represent the commitment you are making will outshine those trendy Pinterest photos anyday.
  • I wish Pinterest would die in a fire.
What did you think would happen if you walked up to a group of internet strangers and told them to get shoehorned by their lady doc?~StageManager14

Oh, it's not Pinterest itself that's bad...it's the crap that gets posted on it.  If it wasn't Pinterest, it'd be something else.
