    This place makes me feel old.   It think it's so sad that people don't know how to be hosts anymore.  It makes me feel like hosting is an older generation thing.






    What differentiates an average host and a great host is anticipating unexpressed needs and wants of their guests.  Just because the want/need is not expressed, doesn't mean it wouldn't be appreciated.

    @lyndausvi I second that! I'm one of the babies on this board, and it still makes me feel old! Its sad how the newer generations have such a total disregard for things like etiquette and proper manners. Joys of the Me Me Me society...

    I was having a conversation with one of the guys in my office about wedding etiquette as he attends a lot of weddings since his friends' kids are all getting married. I've summarized a few of the shitshow threads on TK, and he is amazed at how little people think of those that are supposed to be their nearest and dearest. He is super happy and impressed that I'm trying to follow etiquette and treat my guests properly, commenting that he doesn't see that as much from younger people anymore.
