"Here comes the bride" sign confusion!

Good morning everyone! I have a flower girl and 2 ring bearers (brothers). I am thinking about having one of the boys carry a "here comes the bride" sign. Normally the flower girl walks right before me throwing the petals. Right? Would this still be the case if one of the boys carries the sign?

Also, I would like the ring bearer (10 yrs old)  to carry our rings in a ring box instead of the best man holding them. What do you think? Trouble?

    The 10 year old should be old enough to carry the rings without trouble, but don't give him the rings until you walk down the aisle.

    I'm personally not a fan of the sign (everyone knows the bride is coming) but there is nothing wrong with what you are planning.

    How old is the kid that you are wanting to carry the sign?

    I agree with PP that I am not a fan of those signs.  They are pointless because everyone already knows that you are getting ready to walk down the aisle.  They don't need a sign to remind them.

    The 10 yr old should be able to be trusted with the rings but I would not have him receive them till right before he walks down the aisle.

    Maybe have the ring bearer walk first and then the boy with the sign escort the flower girl or have the three walk in together.

    What's the point of the sign? My first inclination is "Little boy carrying a 'Here Comes The Bride' sign? Cute photo op!" and then my second thought is: wedding party members are not props for photos.

    Honestly, I agree with the "duh" of the sign. Its the only thing that I can come up with to enable the boys to have their own "special" thing to do. Very competitive little guys! Do you have any other suggestions? Originally, I was going to have one carry my ring and one carry the groom's ring which I thought, each, has its own "special" but the boys seem to think they are copy cats!!! haha!! I could imagine the elbows being throw as they walk down the aisle! :)

    Im sorry, my original post is wrong. The boy carrying sign is 10 years old and ring bearer is 9 years old.

    You do realize that it is okay to tell them that they can't have their own thing to do right?  Yeah they may throw a fit now but they will get over it and they eventually need to realize that life isn't always fair and you don't always get your way.

    I realize that but at some point you just need to tell them that this is what they will be doing.  If you try to find something "special" for each of them to do to prevent them from fighting you may drive yourself crazy.

    I like the idea of the little boy carrying the sign. My sister had our cousins son do it at her wedding and it was adorable. Have him walk right in front of the flower girls. Then he has his job, it's cute and everyone is happy.

    I don't like the sign trend- I think it is campy and trying too hard to be cute.  Adults know the bride is going to walk down the aisle, because typically the flower girls just came down and they usually close the doors at the back of the church/venue and change the music.

    I would not give children my actual rings, no matter their age.  Have dummy rings on the pillow and have your MOH or Best Man, whoever is more trustworthy, carry the actual rings.

    I'm not a fan of "here comes the bride" signs.  Aside from the fact that you have processional music that's supposed to announce that you, the bride, are about to start down the aisle, I agree with PPs that it is trying too hard to be "cute" and to include small children in the wedding.

    Children can be included as, depending on their age and sex, flower girls, ring bearers, bridesmaids/men, groomsmen/maids, readers, and ushers.  Or they can just be in photos and still be "included," especially if they're under 3. There is no need to ask them to do things to emphasize their "cuteness."

    Sorry, I hate signs like that.  i just don't even find them cute.

    I think just being part of the wedding party is special itself.

    If you don't like the sign yourself, don't do the sign. It will bug you when you look back at your photos. If the boys want to be involved they have to take the task that is given to them. It's not like you are asking either one to do something awful or embarrassing. I like the idea of one holding each ring, or escorting the flower girl.

    Thanks everyone! I think I am going to have one escort flower girl and one carry "fake" rings!" I hate to admit this but I can't figure out what the ring bearer with fake ring does when he gets to alter! I can not recall the ring bearers of weddings that Ive attended. Either they had nobody or they did and I didnt even notice! Shame on me!! Does ring bearer walk up to the maid of honor/best man and pretend to give them rings? Or does he just go to his seat? WOW....I really feel dumb right now! :)

    He can either just go to his seat next to his parents or he can stand up at the alter with the rest of the men.  But it would probably be best just to have him sit down.

    Well if he is holding a ring pillow or something I guess he could just give that to the best man before sitting down. So it looks like the best man is taking the rings from him even though he already had them. Feels kind of like you are fooling the guests though. I'm not having a ring bearer so never really thought about it.
