The design for our ring pillow! I found the picture online and made a pattern. We don't even know if we'll end up having a ring bearer (we will have a ring-warming if we don't), but at least we'll have something for the rings to go on. I'm pretty sure my eyeballs were ready to fall out of my head just as I put the last stitch in, though. lol

  • Amazeballs! I love it. I can definitely see it being awesome whether you end up with a ringbearer or warming.

  • Just to show how unattached I get to "stuff", I asked FI if he thought I could get 50 bucks for it on Etsy after the wedding! haha

  • That's awesome! That's my wedding ring and I have it as a tattoo
  • That's gorgeous!! If I send you a cross-stitch project I've been working on for several years, will you finish it for me??

  • Beautiful!  I've done some cross stitching before and while it isn't hard it does hurt the eyes...

FI and I are going to look at wedding bands soon and we are hoping to find nice ones with Celtic designs. I found a couple on Amazon that we liked, so at least we have a fallback plan!

Sure! I can't guarantee how long it will take me since we're getting to crunch-time for my wedding crafts, but I can give it a shot. FFIL's house was pretty much destroyed in Hurricane Irene, and we found all of FI's late mother's half-finished cross stitch projects. I've finished a few of them and given them to the family. I'm kind of the go-to stitcher since I'm slightly obsessed! lol

Thankfully, I opted for 14 count aida to do this design. I'm working on a family crest for FFIL and I had to make the pattern using 18 count aida to get the fine detail to show. The pattern is 16" x 22" for a 12" design. I might die before I finish it! haha

After my parents' basement flooded in 2004, I found an embroidery project my grandmother had bought my mother, and my mother had started but never finished.

I finished it, had it framed, and gave it to her for Mother's Day in 2005. It still hangs in their living room. I love projects with stories like these.

OK, you've inspired me. When I start my new job, I'm going to buckle down and finish the project!!

You can do it! If you need a cheerleader or someone to help hold you accountable for your progress, I'm here for you!

This was one of the projects I found after the flood. FSIL got married over the summer, and this seriously looked like it was meant for her. I finished it, matted and framed it, then gave it to her for her bridal shower. She immediately hung it in her living room.

ETA: Ok, this is identifiable... to whoever received this gift! How the heck else would anyone else know?

It's when you have each of your guests hold your rings for a few moments while thinking positive thoughts for your marriage. If FI's godson does not want to be our ringbearer (he's 5, so we're letting him decide because we're really not pushy), we'll set the pillow up on a chair near the entrance to the garden with a small sign asking people to participate in the ring warming if they are so inclined. (LINKY)

I'm gonna need the cheerleader and accountability partner, fo' sho'!
I'm so there for you! Now I need someone to kick my butt into gear to write my wedding ceremony! I've been "working" on it for over a month already. lol

Hehe Thank you!! I have the welcome statement done. I've been trying to do the definition of marriage part, and I'm having difficulties making it unique enough to fit both of us, but not ridiculous. I found some good ideas online, so I'm trying to piece stuff together.

Writing is usually really easy for me (my degree is in English Lit/Creative Writing), but this is kicking my behind. On the plus side, hey, I finished stitching my ring pillow! hahaha

  • Very pretty!  If I get the job I'm interviewing for I need to make sure and bring my x-stitch projects for my lunch hour since I'll be too far away to come back home ;)  I have xmas stockings that I'd like to finish before next Christmas, lol.

  • The last thing I cross stitched was a nativity scene on either 18 or 22 count...it put me off cross stitch for a while.  I'm yarn-crazy right now but I love all the stitch project pictures!
  • I don't know why, but I keep picking projects with higher and higher counts as I get older and older. I think I'm going to put the needle down until I've finished all the other wedding-related stuff. I honestly wasn't even going to make the pillow after cross stitching all of my Christmas cards this year, but I'm seriously messed up in the head. I blame getting dropped too many times as a kid!
