  I would send a second note. You can be honest, that you got the gifts separately and were so excited to get the TY note out.

  See I would just pick up the phone and call them and just say hey, BBB shipped them separate, but thank you so so soooo much for both gifts!

  Especially if it's a close family member or friend, I'd use the excuse for a phone call. And kudos on such quick TY deployment! Wow! I send TYs but I'm always woefully late. Something we will work on for the wedding.

  If it's someone you're close to, I'd totally call them up. Otherwise, send a second thank-you note (although maybe wait a few days to make sure it's the LAST gift in the bunch).

  I got a crockpot from a friend for our wedding, and I thanked he for it. We were moving a few months after the wedding, so I didn't open or use it b/c I was trying not to have to do any extra packing. I never actually used the crockpot until several months after we moved. When I did, I discovered there was also a crockpot cookbook in the box that my friend had added. I called her and explained and thanked her for it then. It's no big deal.

  I would call and let them know if you are close and send another note if you are not as close. You could also call BBB and see if here are any other items being shipped from that order. This way you don't need to send a third note.

  LOL. I did the same exact thing. The person ended up contacting me to make sure I knew there was a second part. I just laughed with them and told them I jumped the gun by trying to do good etiquette. I sent a second thank you card

  Thanks everyone!  The guest isn't a super close friend of mine, so I think I'll just send a second note.  The second gift was extremely generous so I would feel bad if I just never formally thanked her for it.

  I just had the same problem, and someone pointed me to this thread. Also a BB&B order. The two gifts were like $11 and $19, respectively, so it sort of makes sense that they grouped them, but I wasn't even thinking. I think I'm going to call and double check on the smaller ones from now on just to make sure I don't screw it up again.
