Zombies!

Threads, that is. I don't get the big deal. I mean, if the question is deeply personal, then ok, but for a general question, why not just keep the thread open (especially if it's less than a year old)? People resurrect threads because the topic is still relevant. Ex. the Shoprite Flowers thread. /soapbox

Re: Zombies!

  • I don't care about the ones under a year old. Over a year, though, and it seems irrelevant, mostly b/c the resurrectors usually address a long-gone poster.
What did you think would happen if you walked up to a group of internet strangers and told them to get shoehorned by their lady doc?~StageManager14

  • Its just the 2-4 year old ones that tend to be a pain for me.
  • I find this funny, because in the Offbeat Bride forums, they merge new threads with relevant old threads. Totally opposite from The Knot. That's useful because those old threads have a lot of good advice, and then you don't have to say stuff ad nauseum (no cash bars, favors are optional, it's okay to walk down the aisle yourself, etc., etc.).
  • Zombie threads don't bother me when someone is building off relevant information.  But lately I've noticed zombie threads in which the OP has some sort of terrible etiquette idea, PPs set her straight/ etiquette war raged, it's been two years, and now a new poster finds it and blurts out bad advice to validate the long-gone OP.

  • A newb this morning resurrected a 4 year old thread and chastised the posters in it for telling OP she had a bad idea. It was her first post and she chastised people who are all gone from an ancient thread. Not a good way to start on multiple levels!

  • FFS. Make that 2 newbs in 2 different threads chastising long gone posters in 4 year old threads for their first post.

Yeah that's dumb.  I just think a little discretion should be used, generally, before closing a potentially useful thread.  No point resurrecting controversial threads.

  • I do agree with you. There are some topics, that no matter how old, the information IS still relevant, and possibly not in 100 other threads already and will be in 100 more, like the one you pointed out.

  • I got excited for a second thinking this thread was going to be about actual zombies. Like The Walking Dead/Zombieland stuff. Bummer. LOL.
