Eloping in Vegas June 2014. No clue where to start!

edited February 2014 in Nevada-Las Vegas
Hey guys!

No clue where to start planning an elopement in Vegas in June 2014. I'm liking the Chapel of the Flowers, but I'm so lost...any tips on keeping this super budget friendly, low key, but chic?!?!

Thanks in advance

  • I've always thought chic and minimalist should go hand and hand. Basically stay away from things that say wedding. Cake is a good example. Don't get a small wedding cake. Get a pretty cake from a bakery in a supermarket. I personally would have an ice cream cake but that's me. Personalize with color not accoutrement. Most bouquets come in a variety of colors and come with the package. No need to pay 50 bucks extra for them to stick plastic butterfly s in it. Think outside of what u think. I am getting married at Bellagio and I thought there is no way we could have a reception here. We'll I checked out their cafe and they have a private room and I can get away with 40 to 50 pp. Just try to focus on what u want and keep it simple. .just my 2 cents
  • We are doing ours at the Flamingo, it is extremely budget friendly and I'm the most frugal person ever! We are having our cake done by Drago Sisters...amazing price! We are not going anywhere for a reception, mainly b/c i don't want to pay $30+pp for food ..if i was to do that I would have the wedding where i live, You don't have to have everything that everyone has...i always tell myself at the end of the day it is me and my man getting married to each other, not the guests. We are having a in-suite reception, we are going to Albertson's getting some platters, going to the liquor store getting champagne, hard alcohol, we chose to do our wedding on a sunday that way it would cut costs. I ordered my invitations on zazzle along with a coupon.

  • I chose the Juno Garden at Caesars I wanted an outdoor ceremony and this location was my favourite, we went with the cheapest package and added any extras ( extra for a larger bouquet and one extra hour of photography. I only had 9 guests so getting a private room with no minimum was important, we chose canaletto at caesars. It was great no minimum, looks onto at marks square so we had a nice atmosphere and you can customise your menus which range from 40-80, ours was only 65pp plus service & tax which I was incredibly happy with. That was it really I splurged on hair and makeup in my hotel (Cosmopolitan) for the sheer ease of getting it done in the hotel. I would look at all ceremony options, narrow that down considering cost for extra flowers and photography. If it's just both of you then I guess you gave the luxury of choosing any restaurant you fancy for a meal.I paid about $360 for hair makeup and a spray tan so it'll be more cost effective to have a HMU come to your room or go off strip. You could also hire a minister and get married anywhere in front of the Bellagio fountains for example or what about a gondola at the Venetian.
  • I think the best thing you can do is set your budget, make a list of  'must haves' and start from there. Check out Vegasgroom.com and the topics from the other knotties for ideas! Make sure you get quotations from different companies to get the best deal.

    My 'must haves' were:
    • a big wedding dress
    • a somewhat unique location
    • professional HMU
    • wedding photo's on the strip
    • nice food
Based on that list and our budget we chose the Valley of Fire for our ceremony. I really really wanted a big wedding dress, so I purchased one at the bridal shop where I live which ended up being our biggest expense! Well worth it if you ask me haha! You could hire a dress to save some money, there are several places in Vegas that do dress and tux rentals.
We got several quotations from limo companies and eventually decided on Bell Trans. They allow us to bring our own food and drink :) HMU is done by Make-up in the 702. Because we're planning this from abroad we decided on a different photographer for the photo tour on the Strip. We also decided not to have flowers or a wedding cake. We're having our dinner at Hugo's Cellar.
