How can I export email addresses of people that have RSVP'd?

My husband is in the Marine Corps and because of his uncertain schedule we are doing RSVP's the ultra modern way and doing them solely through emails. I had one person RSVP just to see how it works but I'm not sure how to take those emails of people that have RSVP'd and put them into an email message so I can keep everyone updated on our wedding details. Please help! =)

  • Why would you need to keep them updated? If anything, create a wedding website. Once you've sent out invites though your details shouldn't change. I think you need to tell us more...

My husband's in the Navy so I don't understand that reasoning at all.  Anyhow, do all of your guests use e-mail?  Not just have an e-mail address but actually use it?

As for updating them there shouldn't be a reason too.  The invitation should have included a concrete date, time, and location.  If your concern is that he could deploy then you would need to either send a note or call the guests.  Personally, I vote for calling them to be sure you have made contact.  E-mailing them about a change in plans of that magnitude is very unreliable.  Not everyone checks their e-mail on a regular basis, things get eaten by spam filters, they get a new e-mail address, etc.

I'm in this camp. If anything changes, it would have to be pretty significant.

  • Maybe I wasn't totally clear with what uncertain meant - we're doing emailed RSVP's (or phone calls if they don't have emails) because we want to try and have the wedding in May but we cannot set a date because of his current deployment. We don't know when he'll be home or how long he'll get leave so we can't even set a concrete date.

If we had a concrete date and it we were sure it wouldn't/couldn't change with very short notice then I'd absolutely do the traditional RSVP's (which I'd rather do). I was really just wondering how the emails that guests put in to the site to RSVP were stored and where they were stored so I could copy and paste all of those emails (when we get them) into an email message.

Thanks for the feedback ladies. =)
  • Well, people can't really RSVP without a date.  There is no way I could say "sure I'll attend a wedding in May".  That's a 31 day range that it could happen, if it happens.  It might work if every one is local but if you have people who need to request time off work, book flights or hotels they are going to need a date.  If you are going to try to get married around him being deployed you will have to consider that you may not have a lot of people at your wedding.

As far as the technical aspect I guess that would depend on what site you are using.  You should probably talk to tech support for whoever manages it.

  • I've already thought about all of that =)

I'm really just trying to figure out how to get the emails from the people that RSVP into an email message without having to copy and paste each one. I'm using the website that The Knot offers - any suggestion where to find some technical support from them?
  • The knot tools are notoriously awful
