So, who else is hunkering down for the billionth blizzard of Winter 2014? I'm at work until 9 PM (I worked 8:30-9 both days this weekend, UGH), but soon I'll be going home and watching The Walking Dead. I've been working all day on my care plan project for Peds because it's been totally slow in here all weekend. It's such a long, frustrating process, but I'm actually really proud of it; this one is so much more detailed and strong than the ones from previous classes, so the nursing nerd side of me is pretty darn pleased with myself. :)

What have y'all been up to? I feel like I've barely kept up with anybody over the past couple weeks!

ETA: Probably no one is even on here right now; I just remembered the Oscars are on tonight too! Sadly I won't get to see most of them. Doggone employment getting in the way of my TV time!

Re: Sunday Chatter

  • Come on, people, I have to procrastinate for at least another 20 minutes! LOL.

(I'm just bitter 'cause y'all have lives and whatnot. Don't mind me.)

    (But still.)

  • I'm really glad I'm not having to deal with a blizzard right now!

I'm currently watching My Fair Wedding, it's the one wedding show I really love watching and I think David is hilarious!

    How was your weekend?

  • @bethsmiles, David Tutera used to be one of my guilty pleasures! I think My Fair Wedding: Unveiled kind of ruined it for me. What's the theme tonight?

My weekend has been so. boring. I just worked and did school stuff the whole time. What's worse is that I have maybe one weekend off in its entirety over the next two months. My job hates me. I'm really starting to feel like a major recluse, and it's getting to me. Not to be a major downer, lol.
  • I'm just watching old episodes on Netflix, I think it's one of the Unveiled ones though. What about those makes you not like it? I just love David's judgeyness (which I would never really want in a wedding planner) but damn these girls have awful ideas and he says everything I think!

Boo for boring weekends. Although my weekend wasn't super exciting. I have really big/important exams a week from Monday and I've been so stressed about them I had a super short temper this weekend and snapped at BF a couple of times. He's 100% understanding and is just letting me be crazy but I still feel bad!

Just got home from the in-laws' house.

Now we're thinking J's wrist is broken, so he's going to go back on Thursday (as long as it's not drastically better). My best friend is very concerned that the doctor didn't give J a prescription for an anti-inflammatory. We asked: I said he was allergic to aspirin and ibuprofen, so was there anything he could take? Nope, just Tylenol. Awesome. We're going to see if a better hospital will give him Celebrex (for short-term use). And, of course, we'll ask for a second opinion.

@bethsmiles, awww, exams are so stressful. Glad your BF is understanding about them, but honestly, you're getting prepared so far in advance - I'm sure you'll do great!

I think it's actually the judgyness of Unveiled that turns me off. Yes, they have absolutely horrible ideas, but then I look at the wedding itself and I'm just like, "...This is so overdone and ridiculous." Probably it's me being a curmudgeon and not getting into the spirit of things.

@Phira, I'm sorry that his wrist might actually be broken. :( Why Thursday? Just curious; I just hate to think about him being that uncomfortable for so long. Ugh, that sucks.

  • @CLoGreenEyes - Thanks! I have to pass these exams to get my degree and I've been studying for over a month! I know I'm ready but I'm still freaking out! lol

@TwoDimes - Full House is the best! I wish it was on Netflix...I wish everything was on Netflix!

  • @Phira - Your poor FI! Definitely seems like you guys need a second opinion.

  • @TwoDimes, that's a legit point about Unveiled; they're going to eventually hear him saying his true thoughts on TV anyway.

Question: best double date/setting people up activities: what are they? Annnnnnd go.

Thanks, everyone. Thursday = a week since he hurt himself. I'd prefer it if he went back tomorrow, obviously, but it'll be hard enough to convince him to go on Thursday! The inflammation is improving, I think--there's less swelling, especially in his hand. But the pain is not improving at all, which is what we're worried about. He took Tylenol for a couple days but it didn't help enough, and he doesn't like taking it. He's been wearing a wrist brace most of the time, since it reminds him that he needs to be careful with it, and he takes it off every so often to let his skin breathe. He's not icing nearly as much as he should! I'm going to torture him with more ice in about 30 minutes (he iced about an hour ago).

I'm not watching the Oscars, but someone tweeted Lupita Nyong'o's acceptance speech, so I'm all misty-eyed. I saw some tweets that P!nk was looking fierce, but haven't been able to get any images (she's so amazing aaah).

We're doing this next weekend with a friend of J's and my maid of honor. We're going to go to a super casual restaurant downtown. They do beer and belgian frites. It's much less stressful than a place where we'd have to have waitstaff take our orders tableside, and then wait for a check. We'll be close to Quincy Market (if you're from Boston or you've visited, it's a super popular touristy area that's a lot of fun to walk around), so if we get bored or tired of the restuarant, we can walk around.

I also went on a double date with my brother and ex-SIL and one of her good friends who was single. We did dinner and a movie, and then hung out at our house.

Honestly, double-dating in my experience has been less awkward that I ever feared it would be. I've never been set up on a blind date, but based on my experience, I'd think that the blind date might be more awkward. At least on the double-date, you can talk to the people you know, and they can sort of be responsible for keeping the conversation going and fun.

  • @TwoDimes and @Phira, thanks for the suggestions! Honestly, I might just have to drag some friends bowling with me anyway, just because it's been too long since I've done that!

Phira, you're probably right that it won't be too weird. The more people who are there, the more conversation buffer there is to keep the conversation from falling flat, and the less pressure there is to be "on" the whole time.
