Okay this is going to happen

I'm getting healthy. I'm going back on the wagon tomorrow and increasing my water uptake and counting everything I eat. I'm no longer overwhelmed with school, I have no excuse not to cook healthy and plenty of reasons to cook healthy. The least of which is my wedding, the most of which is that I like to live an active lifestyle (with FI and friends) and I'm selling myself short by not doing so.  I'm giving up soda completely, but am having everything else in moderation. (soda is just bad and I'm a serious Diet Coke addict). If I need caffeine I can drink coffee (I always drink it black) or tea and lots of water.

Does anyone want to do accountability threads with me on the Fitness bored? We can motivate each other to be healthy and hit the gym or exercise at least 3 times a week.

  • I'm up for it! I was planning on starting on March 5th-Wednesday-since that's the first day of Lent and I'm giving up Starbucks for 40 days. I could use some accountability.

  • Good for you! I quit soda a few years ago and now I drink almost all water. I still treat myself to a little but very rarely (cherry coke at the movies is my weakness). My skin has never been better.

We do accountability threads over on NEY everyday and you're more than welcome to join us there if you'd like! We generally post our meal plan for the day (sometimes dinner plans for the week as well) and our fitness plan. Everyone has a different style of what/how they post, though. I'm on WW so I include the Points Plus for each of my meals. Others stick to MyFitnessPal so they include the calorie count. It's also great for getting new meal ideas and recipes!

  • Good for you! Some other Knottie friends and I started doing this privately, and I must say the accountability really does help! And using My Fitness Pal has been a HUGE help and eating habit changer for me! Good luck to you!

  • Good for you! I also recommend My Fitness Pal. I track everything I eat and all of my exercise too.
  • FI was concered about me because I never drink anything. Like I'm just never thirsty, I used to have a water bottle on my desk and it would take from Monday to Friday for me to drink the whole thing. So he started buying me those crystal light packets to mix in. I realize the chemicals in them are probably no better than the chemicals in diet soda but whatever, I now drink almost 1 bottle per day which is better than nothing!!

I find it's easier to work out before work, just get up, get it done, no excuses then you don't have to worry about it all day long.

Kuddos to you! Ditto PP about MyFitnessPal - it's so easy to use, especially with the scanner, and I love that it tracks food & exercise.

We also have a favorite cookbook called "Cooking Light: Fresh food fast, weeknight meals". There are over 280 recipes that are only 5 ingredients, 15 minutes to make. Plus, nutritional analysis is included for all of them!

**Edited to add another high five for dropping the soda. You'll be amazed what a difference such a small change will make!**

  • I am so with you! I lost 30 lbslast year just eating right and cutting out soda and drinking a ton of water, but I've gotten lazy since the holidays. I did actually pack my gym clothes for after work today, so that's a start lol.

  • I'm with you too!  Fi and I just started the Flat Belly Diet, which sounds extreme but is really mostly about eating whole foods, healthy fats, and reasonable portions.  I have a cookbook for it and it has a lot of great, really delicious recipes.  I had avocado toast for breakfast this morning... yum!

@Swazzle I may just come on over to NEY for the accountability threads.  Sometimes I am hesitant about NEY because you ladies have such a close little community over there.  :)  But if we're all invited, I'll come on over!

  • Great! Thanks everyone for the encouragement! :) I will join the NEY boards for the accountability threads.

I've been using LoseIt app and Nike running! :)

Niccirf I bought a similar cookbook, just not the weeknight version, off of Amazon. Can't wait for it to come in! :)

Day one without soda is going well so far. Thinking of getting a coffee though! :)

  • @JCBride2014 - All are welcome! I promise we don't bite (unless we're talking about cake, potatoes, or cheese)  :)

  • The $1.06 36oz refill at Subway is the light and bane of my work day. I just realized Lent starts Weds and a I usually give up pop for lent…and now I'm panicked bc I only have 2 more days of pop…yeaaaa??? :-\

    Let's do this!

  • I really want a soda right now, but I'm drinking water and going to get a coffee or a tea and writing it here means I have to do it.
