  I think you are good to go as is. The only information you need to include in your invitation, is information that your guests need to take action on in advance. They will know what to do with a photo-booth and a punch-cauldron when they get to your reception and see it. They can decide what to pile onto their buffet plate when they see the spread. They'll admire all your autumn-themed decorating when they walk into the room and are wowwed by it. No need to prepare them ahead of time. And I would trust that they also do not need to be warmed that it is *not* a halloween party: if you have made a normal polite invitation with no ghosties or witches on it, they should be able to figure out not to wear a costume.

  I guess the main reason I was thinking about putting in the Halloween specific info is for those who have kids...to let them know that there will be Halloween things for the kids to enjoy since those who come won't be doing trick or treating activities that night.

  I think I'd stick to word of mouth for that situation.

  Agree with word of mouth for the kids thing. Unless you are going for a full Halloween theme, I'd leave that out of the invite. People could get the wrong idea about your weddings vibe.

  Oh, that's very sweet of you: I did not even think of that. While you could certainly rely on word of mouth for that, you could also create a "kid's invitation" to slip in with the adult invitations, addressed just to the children by name, and mention the trick-or-treat candy and dress-up clothes on that. I know a lot of children who would be as thrilled to get their own invitation as they would be reassured that they won't be completely deprived of their "Hallowe'ening".

  I'd use word of mouth + wedding website. You could have an entire wedding website page dedicated to the fun Halloween activities you're having. Unlike an additional insert in your invitations, this won't cost you more in postage.

  Thanks for the inputs. It's a small wedding (50ish people), so word of mouth should work very well.
