Construction Day Two

1. We can't remove one of the soffits so my utility cabinets are 7' instead of 9.  Oh well.

2. The cat is so mad she pissed in our bed last night.

3. If those are the only issues life is good.

4. The walls are down and I'm dreaming about how nice it's going to be to have such an open space.

Re: Construction Day Two

  • How long is this projected to take?  I can't wait to see more progression pics.

I have to share this MLS listing I found via FB last night.  http://www.talktotucker.com/idx/17023-puntledge-drive-westfield-in-46062/10483728_spid/

This chick is suing her parents for high school and  college tuition after they kicked her out.  They say she didn't want to do stuff around the house and moved out on her own. http://www.cnn.com/2014/03/04/justice/student-sues-parents-new-jersey/index.html?hpt=hp_t2

I'm feeling better-ish today, but still not better enough.  DH did hear DefConn last night and got up to get him ice water.  But of course, he doesn't have my 'in the dark' skills and doesn't know how to close our door, so I was up because the kitchen light was shining in our room. *smh*
  • WTF @ that listing, conn.
  • I KNOW!  A hoarder's dream...I guess?

They are working this week until Friday.  Drywall Saturday.  DH, dad and I paint Sunday.  Cabinets next Monday and Tuesday with granite templating Monday late afternoon.  Granite people need 5 days to fabricate and install the 17.  Backsplash and water back on the 18th.  So 2ish wks.
  • Conn, I hope your new home comes "furnished"!  ;-)

I'm not sure what to think of that lawsuit.  I want to take the parent's side, but I'm sure there is more going on than covered in the article.

6, sounds like they are making good progress on the redo.  Sorry the cat is being pissy.

Dang, 2 weeks is pretty quick, 6, especially with the level of demo it sounds like is being done.

H, FIL, BIL and friend are coming to put in new doors this week, so I get a new door, sidelight and transom and also a new back door too <<<not dirty

For all of that, my only job is to be gopher and to serve breakfast, coffee and lunch.  YAY!  Pretty good deal, if you ask me.

Also, H and I had a great heart-to-heart last night, and I feel 100000% better than I did even a day ago.
  • I read the street at Cunt-Ledge.

DD was up all last night because I said she was a good sleeper at night. Payback. DS was up as well, once for a minor potty incident and the other for ears hurting. So tired this morning.

I'm impressed it will only take 2 weeks. DH told me he has the tile setters coming for the days I'm gone at the end of the month. I'm not sure how my anxiety is going to be. Out of town, DH alone with the kids, and our downstairs torn up? It's either heaven or hell.
  • @PMeg819 - in response to this: "Out of town, DH alone with the kids, and our downstairs torn up?"  You KNOW everything is going to go smoothly and DH is going to look like a hero.  And that will annoy the crap out of you, because of.course.  At least that's the way things go in my life...

    @mrs.conn23 - I don't appreciate you posting a link to my house!

i'm not crazy about the kitchen cabinets in that MLS listing, so that would need to be changed.

good luck with the new kitchen! mine is just about 7 years old and probably due for an update, but is holding up nicely. i'm dying to redo the bathroom.

  • @AuntFlo- I know. I'll come home and he'll look at me like "it wasn't so bad!" Every Monday night (and lately a few other nights a week) I'm the only one home with the kids. I know I shouldn't complain but damn it's hard to watch both of them, make dinner, get baths and bedtime done without feeling like I'm struggling. Someone is crying or mad at me. I was secretly hoping that week he would see how difficult it can be, but I don't think it will happen. I also predict my mom may come over and help him.

The longest part is actually the time between templating and fabrication for the counters.  The guys are working 4-12s and the drywall guy is doing a Saturday so that helps the timeline.
