Favorite edible shower favor

DD's girls are planning her shower for next month and are trying to come up with a favor idea, edible preferred.  They know they aren't required, but would like to do them.  Suggestions?  Gotten something memorable from a shower you attended?

Re: Favorite edible shower favor

  • Cupcakes are always good! A wedding I was in, the MOH did a cupcake display in the shape of a wedding dress. She used to work in a bakery so it looked very professional, but it was easy to do!

The same shower, the bride's mom made rasberry-infused vodka that came out to be a pretty pink color. She put them in small "nip" size bottles and pu them at everyone's place setting. People seemed to like that too, I wasn't too crazy about it since she used Dubra (I'm a vodka snob). Guests were opening them up at the party and mixing it with Sprite!!!

I am not a big fan of physical favors (cha-chi stuff).

  • I would prefer something sweet.  Perhaps a package of homemade cookies or cake pops.

  • Chocolate. Or a cookie.
  • Chocolate truffles. I will sample them in advance to ensure that they're of appropriate quality, if you'd like ;)

  • For my sisters shower we got bridal cookie cutters in the shapes of dresses and cakes and made sugar cookies then iced them in her wedding colors. Delicious!
  • My favorite is at baby showers when you frosting covered animal crackers mmmmmm

But since that doesn't apply here, I like the standard goodie bag of skittles, gummie bears, starburst that I can munch on while the shower is happening

  • I love a good frosted sugar cookie!  Also, chocolate cover pretzel rods are pretty easy.

Chocolate covered pretzels are delicious and always welcomed.
  • My sister in law's wedding was beachy.  At her shower, we had nutter butter cookies (the ones shaped like a peanut) with simple frosting lines on top to look like a flip flop.  Then at their wedding, the favors were different fish shaped treats: goldfish, swedish fish, tart candy fish; and also salt water taffy.  I liked the variety of treats so that people who wanted sweet could get sweet/ salty could get salty.

  • I did chocolate lollipops for my sister's shower. I went to a baby shower a few weeks ago where the favors were cookies in the shape of onesies with a frosting on it, they were so good!

  • All time favorite was cookie mix in a jar.

Second favorite was a frosted sugar cookie.

  • Chocolate truffles. I will sample them in advance to ensure that they're of appropriate quality, if you'd like ;)

You are super awesome to offer to take one for the team!  I just couldn't let you do  that though - it is ok, I will handle the sampling part.

I adore the cookie idea but she is having a cookie buffet at the wedding for her favor so the girls didn't want to do that for the shower too.  Truffles......I love truffles.......

  • I wanted to do hedgehog chocolates for our AHR, but had my cousin make cake pops in Hawaii forms.  I was planning to put a little note from our hedgie about thanks for helping us celebrate or similar, but my cousin makes amazing cake pops as a side business, so we had flowers, sharks and such instead

  • They had a candy bar at my friends shower and it was awesome. For a girl, so they had a variety of pink and white colored candies and the guests each got a little bag to take what they wanted. They also had cake pops. They said it was simple to put together too.

  • Truffles! Or better yet truffle cake pops... So yummy!
  • Biscotti!  I make biscotti all the time and keep it in a large glass jar, so it's a pretty display.

Bonus- You can make it ahead of time because it keeps well.  (For this I recommend the Italian Style which is much harder and less cookie like than the America style.. much better for dipping!)

Biscotti secret- when you take it out of the oven the first time (in loaf form), let it sit for 5 minutes, and then spritz the top with water, let it sit another 5 minutes.. this will help it not crumble when you slice it before baking it the second time!
