Programs and escort cards

I totally spaced on budgeting for programs and escort cards? Are programs needed, and any recommendations on saving money on escort cards?

Thanks!

Re: Programs and escort cards

  • Programs are totally not needed unless your ceremony has a lot of unique/cultural/religious parts that people wouldn't know about. As for escort cards, you can just make a sign listing who is at what table instead of individual escort cards. If you'd prefer to do cards, you can buy ones you can print yourself and make them up on your computer. Avery has 3 styles that are pretty affordable: http://www.avery.com/avery/en_us/Products/Cards/Tent-Cards/

We had programs at daughter's church wedding because the church required them.
At my own wedding I did not use programs.  They are not necessary.
I ordered daughter's escort cards from Vistaprint.  I used folding business cards, but I formatted them with a blank space for me to hand write the names of the guests and the table numbers where they were seated.  It didn't take long.  Very cheap and pretty, too..

  • If your color happens to be purple I have a crapton of escort cards leftover that you're free to have. PM me if purple happens to be your color :)
  • Instead of escort cards, I've seen all of the names printed out on one sheet and framed- you can get it printed out on vistaprint, or at staples or kinkos for pretty cheap

For escort cards i plan on just making my own with cardstock.  I was just playing around with ideas, so these are messy but this was simple and you can get a pack of card stock pretty cheap, especially if you use a 50% off coupon for michaels or another craft store

  • A word of caution when it comes to the sign. While you may have the sign or cards out during cocktail hour, most people will not even look at it until it is time to take their seat.  Depending on how many people you have, this could cause a crowd around a tiny sign.  At least with cards you can have them spread out in alphabetical order so people know which side of the table they should be on to get their card and leave.  And like Jenni said, making the cards can be inexpensive.
  • Definitely skip programs if there is a budget issue.
What did you think would happen if you walked up to a group of internet strangers and told them to get shoehorned by their lady doc?~StageManager14

  • We're skipping the programs.

For escort cards, we're also planning on using Vistaprint business cards. They'll be attached to the favors as a 2-in-1 sort of thing.
