Leave for voluntary deployment

I was wondering...Does the leave work the same if they voluntarily deploy? Last I heard it was 30 days per year during deployment, is this still the case?

Eek I honestly have no idea... And I feel like it'll still depend on when the deployment is, how much predeployment stuff he has to get done, etc...
I think the best thing to do is to ask his superiors on this one because I feel like it can be different for different circumstances and this is definitely one of those!

Sorry I am not more help!

Oh, it's ok! I just want to be prepared for anything that might happen. Deployment is not for sure just yet, he's still finishing up some training right now. I'll find out how long it is eventually! :)

Are you asking how much leave he'll be able to take during the deployment?  Or how much he'll earn during that time (ie if he's Reserves or NG)?

If it's the first one, it'll be up to the command.  But typically only 14 or 15 days is given during the year-long deployments.  Now that the Army is going to 9-mo deployments, no leave will be given during that time.  Not sure if the NG or reserves are different.

If you're asking about the 2nd- he will earn 2.5 days for every 1 month on active duty.

He's in the Army reserve right now, but might be going active pretty soon. I just wanted to know how often he would come home and for how long if he were to deploy soon. Thanks for the info!

Not sure if there's a difference in branches, but I know that it's pretty normal to give someone who is onat least  a year long deployment 2 weeks of leave sometime in the middle of that to go home and see family. After returning home from my 7 month deployment, I had 2 weeks of R&R leave to re-adjust and inprocess the base again. Regular leave for Active Duty, however, is what TeamBaby mentioned with 2.5 days of leave per month of Active Duty.
