My co-worker is such an ass.

We have a woman that recently began working in the warehouse. She knows how to operate a forklift. She's picking orders, building pallets and receiving in pallet loads of product. It's a strenuous job and she's kicking ass at it.
My co-worker wants to ask her if she's been in the military. I tried to explain to her that she could end up offending her. She doesn't get it. I have a feeling she's going to ask her anyway.

It could be worse, she could ask if she was a lesbian.

Seriously though, there's always one ass in a group.    I have one at work.  Sadly he is the bosses son so I can't get rid of him.

What differentiates an average host and a great host is anticipating unexpressed needs and wants of their guests.  Just because the want/need is not expressed, doesn't mean it wouldn't be appreciated.
  • You know, I'm actually surprised she didn't mention anything about her possibly being gay.

A few weeks ago, she told me that only men with no brains become professional drivers. I mean, forget the fact that you actually have to be skilled to get your CDL. Nope. All professional drivers are idiots.

    She sounds like a peach.

What exactly does she do that is so superior than truck driver's jobs?

  • I, too, am curious why she would think that. While I think I have a pretty good work ethic and am decent at some of  what your coworker might consider "guy stuff" she should see my 67 year old always-a-civilian sister.  She can kick most anyone's ass when it comes to a work ethic and doing harder not-so-stereotypically-female-type stuff.  Where on Earth did your coworker come up with such a thought (that was rhetorical, I know you don't know)?  I don't see that going well at all.

She's a CPA. And she lists all of her degrees and whatnot on the bottom of each of her emails like this:
    CPA, MSBA

Maybe she can also kick your co-worker's ass?

She sounds like she needs a nerd check and a swirly (coming from a certified nerd).
  • Lmao at swirly!
  • Everyone knows you can't be a physically strong woman unless you're gay or ex-military. Duh.

I had someone at school ask me that. Something along the lines of "I know you have a boyfriend, but I really thought you were a lesbian until I met him" (which was basically a couple quarters after meeting me). It was weird, because she clearly thought that being gay was a bad thing. I just looked at her shocked and said "Um, excuse me?"

She took that opportunity to elaborate. Apparently since I don't wear eye makeup and I don't wear fancy clothes, I must be a lesbian. Nope, I just don't like to wear makeup much.  I'm allergic to most eye makeup and I grew up playing year round soccer and softball, so it was never practical to wear makeup. I wear makeup on dates, interviews, and presentations and that is about it. I tend to wear jeans and a tshirt. It is what I'm most comfortable in. I'll dress up occasionally, but at the time I was playing soccer 3 times a week and trying not to miss my 8am class the other 2 days. Plus, why do I need to justify what I wear?

I was just sitting there thinking how that more offensive to lesbians than me. It was ridiculous.

  • Every group has one of those idiots. I have one white, male coworker who doesn't seem to understand the concept of white privilege. I don't remember what the exact conversation was, but he was saying how he doesn't understand why it was so offensive that one of the other guys in our building kept hounding me about where I'm from, not accepting that I am from New York City (born on 14th Street!) and continuing to say "No, where are you from originally!" He said that people ask him where he's from all the time when they hear his last name, so what's the big deal - totally not understanding that no one ASSUMES he isn't from the US or doesn't speak English just by looking at him. Of course, he also thinks that the parents of the teenage girl who is suing for child support should just pay up so I think he's just a douchecanoe.

  • Lol. It's one thing to be curious, it's another thing to ask like that.

Everybody knows that....just like in the Geico commercials.  So, does this mean I can kick a lot more ass than I have given myself credit for?  If so, I might be able to think of a couple of names on these boards that I should meet.
