Monday...blerg

How was the weekend?

Our was pretty good.  Lots of outside time. Lots of grilling.  :D

Saturday, DH took the kids and went to my nieces basketball game and then the kids went with SIL and MIL and DH and FIL went shooting with a friend.  I stayed home in glorious silence and watched Bravo and Food Network and avoided most of the housework I planned to do.  DH came back home to get me and we went to the IL's for dinner.  We watched The Heat, which was pretty funny.

Sunday, I woke up grumpy and DH and the kiddo went to church.  I stayed home with DefConn.  After they got home, we had the kiddo clean out these bookshelves in his room that we've wanted to get rid of for forever.  We took the bookshelves and a few other things to Goodwill and then went to look for storage.  We found a unit for relatively cheap and are going to rent it this coming weekend.  I can't wait to start de-cluttering and feeling like we're moving toward being ready to sell this house.  We still don't know what we're doing, but maybe getting prepared will help move things in the right direction.

Re: Monday...blerg

  • I'm working five days this week, so I just wanted to stay home all weekend. All we did was watch Breaking Bad, and I cooked all of my lunches and dinner for this week.

I'm having the most seriously bad baby fever ever. I feel like I'm dying.

  • Saturday DH helped me create a craft nook in our basement.  Keeping things in rubbermaid tubs just wasn't working and it was actually discouraging me from wanting to start projects.  My silhouette will be here Wednesday so we got in gear and figured out where I could keep all my things.  The previous owners left behind a homemade hutch and bookcase and we were just storing random crap on them so we cleaned them out completely and found places for the crap.  I need to find shelf paper I like and reline the shelves and get some storage baskets/bins so I'm organized and it looks nice.  I'm way too excited to be crafting more.

Saturday night, new friend came over to hang out and yesterday we said goodbye to the ILs, who are leaving today for work.  It was rough on them to leave knowing they won't see the kids for so long and FIL was especially taking it hard that he'll be missing most of baseball season.  He has been at 75% of the games for the last 8 years, so this is hard for him.

After the puke fest Thursday night my mom told us to just come for early for the weekend.  I gave the kids a bath and we left Friday after lunch.  I proceeded to get sick Sat.  FIL fell over a cord and busted his nose Sat (5 stitches and a CT scan) then he got the bug too.  A friend's daughter landed in the hospital from dehydration.  This bug is no joke.

I didn't get to paint the kitchen Sunday, but my dad and DH got it done.  I'm still at my folks house and I'm DYING to see the progress.  There should be cabinets in when we get home.  Of course there will also be drywall dust everywhere.  Ugh.

  • I feel like I've lived half of my life in active construction zones, and my favorite thing to do with drywall dust was to throw on an N95 and go make drywall dust angels.

It was alright.  We stayed in for most of it.  Saturday was rainy dreary and cold.  We were supposed to have houseguests on Saturday night, but they canceled.  I was actually really glad.

My club hosted a debate between an atheist and a pastor that...didn't go well.  Basically the pastor kept talking about a really brutal tragedy that just happened here about a month ago (a child was murdered).  I know there are stereotypes about atheists, but I'm still always floored when they get trotted out and said with a straight face.  By the end, I was waiting for the old stand-by of eating babies to show up. Then one of his followers basically implied the atheist was a bastard.  "You know your parents...well, one of them at least.  How do you have faith in your parents?"  Our debater handled it with grace and aplomb, something I would not have done.  But the debate spawned great conversations for a lot of people, we gained some new members, and made some great connections for future events.

Sunday was a quiet day at home, with some grocery shopping.  I'm doing a 21 day "cleanse" cutting out alcohol, sugars, artificial sweeteners, soy, gluten, and (the most horrible part of all) dairy.  So, I had a bit of a cheese and wine fest yesterday.  :D
  • I left for a Girls Weekend on Thursday and got home about dinner time last night.  We had a good time.  Nothing too wild but very relaxing.  All three of us have some pretty big stress in our lives right now so it was good to be away.

  • Friday I took my half day and met DH at the tile store. We finally found something we both liked, and now he's in the process of getting the installer booked. So new floors within the month, YAY! After that we ate Indian food, and I went to the eye doctor.

Saturday was errands. Sunday was a mess. I got up with DD at 5 am. While feeding her, one of my dogs proceeds to shit in the bedroom. So I cleaned that up, then DS was up. After I got him situated, DD decides that she is up as well.  No problem. I'll take a nap when she does. Except she didn't nap yesterday. She is teething and would not sleep longer than 45 minutes. By 7 pm I was exhausted. I put her down, told DH to deal with getting DS to bed, and ran a hot bath. Ate ice cream and drank wine while watching True Detective. I honestly looked forward to today.
