My Eyes are Bleeding!!! It Hurts to Read!!!

Re: My Eyes are Bleeding!!! It Hurts to Read!!!

  • I could weep for joy... everyone on WB is telling her not to do it!

  • I know eh?  It's kind of refreshing...Just the concept.

I do find it interesting that in general, WB has no problem with honeyfunds, but they take issue with this.

  • This morning I noticed that someone who started a thread called "Would you hate me if I have a cash bar" posted her wedding budget breakdown totaling up to 87,000 dollars. There's no room in that budget for alcohol?? REALLY? And sadly a lot of Bees were telling her a cash bar was totally fine.
  • There are a lot of people telling her not to do it but did you see how many girls are telling her to just put a honeymoon registry on her wedding website instead?! Baffles my mind.
  • We just need to quietly keep infiltrating the other wedding boards until the etiquette learned on the knot because the standard.

The problem I have with honey moon jars at the wedding is that as a guest I will have already brought a gift, usually a check, but when the bride and groom do this it's as though they are telling us they already know we haven't brought them enough, and could we please give them even more since we were all lacking in the money giving department.

All of the words that just popped into my head were very, very bad.

What on earth is she buying that she's spending that much money on, that isn't booze??? Is she going to be brought in on a crystal carriage pulled by unicorns?
I'm sure she has a 25K Pnina Tornai dress.

If I was spending almost $100,000 on a wedding, I'd have a full bar AND the unicorns!
I only ever see my unicorn friends after I've been hanging out all night with Mr Jim Beam anyway...

  • My favorite is the reply to that thread where one girl calls it tacky but in the same sentence says that she'll be having a dollar dance.

Well she's having two dresses and two veils (I've heard of reception dresses, but I didn't realize you needed a second veil too), the venue is costing 13,000 and includes "nothing" but the building apparently, and the food/planner/rentals (apparently not including alcohol) is a whopping 22,000.

You can see the whole budget breakdown here. I especially love her second sentence: "My parents are paying for most of it but for my 15th bday (Quincenera) they spent like $20 grand, so I was like for my wedding I get to triple that right??"

I only have one dress, but I'm having 2 veils. I'm making the second one (a birdcage veil fascinator) myself, so I can dance and eat at the reception without my super-long veil getting in the way.

(Seriously if my chantilly lace veil got into my mac'n'cheese I would probably cry and I'm not giving up my mac'n'cheese.)

ETA: took out the quoted gif so the post wasn't so long.

  • The original poster-

"Anyone on here spending over 50k on their big day? If so, tell me your budget breakdown! This post isn’t to diss those who aren’t and I honestly don’t want to be criticized and told what things I could have used that money for. I am very much aware how fortunate I am and am so greatful to my family for their generousity. "

With those spelling errors I so badly want to create an account and comment how far that money could go toward further education.

  • If I found out someone spent $87,000 and had a cash bar at their wedding...I honestly don't even know what I would do.  I would probably cancel the check before they could cash it.

    I would be livid.
