Thursday Dress Anxiety!

Ok - the good news - my wedding dress diet and work out plan has worked like a charm!

the bad news - my measurements put me between two sizes. I picked the smaller one. I took my measurements today and they now put me in another size smaller dress!! The shop doesn't open til ten so I'm sitting here twiddling my thumbs until I can find out what it cost to take in a dress!

Im just curious if anyone knows what an average dress take in would cost??

Thanks!

I've heard it isn't too bad, like maybe $100 depending on what you have done and the complexity of your dress.  You can also check craigs list.  There are lots of tailors listed on there and they seem to be less expensive.  I found this one a while back and have been saving her info for my dress alterations in a few months.  I would say call and ask, I doubt anyone would be mean about it.

Did you just recently buy your dream Wedding dress but it's too big or something? Don't worry, I can fix all. You have a design in mind but can’t seem to find it, I am the seamstress for you. My name is Lien and I’ve been doing custom tailoring and alterations, especially Wedding dresses for over 25 years. My experience includes being the head seamstress at Marcella’s La Boutique, Lully Yang design, and Moms, Maids, and More.  My work is professional and meticulously planned and I have an attention for detail. I specialize in alterations of all kind and professional custom tailoring for women. My prices are extremely competitive as I work from my fully furnished boutique at home, conveniently located just minutes from I-405 and I-90 in Bellevue.  Please give me a call at 206-313-1836 or 425-453-5210 if you have any questions or would like to schedule an appointment.

Now for the burning question - what is your strategy?  I would LOVE to be successful with dropping a couple of sizes. Gracias!

But why wouldn't you serve ice cream with the cake?

Woo Hoo!  First of all, congrats on the extra smaller size. :)  Secondly, if you have to spend $100 on alterations, enjoy it knowing how amazing you will look!!!

The estimate for my dress alterations (hemming the bubble hem and taking in the waist & bust (which has special bead work) is $300.  I think mine is probably a little more on the complex end, so hopefully that is an estimated cost ceiling for ya.

Thank you guys for the support and calming words! I really enjoy these boards so much! Also, thanks for the congratulations! :) I got a hold of the dress shop and its too late to change my size but their alterations lady told me it would be very straight forward and be about 50-60 dollars to have it taken in! Yay for stress gone!

Alright for the weight loss (Kind of a lot of things I wrapped into one! Sorry if its too long!)

I figured out how many calories I needed for weight loss here: http://www.freedieting.com/tools/calorie_calculator.htm

I stay close to these calories but often go over a little bit especially on work out days, I have an extra snack.

I like to use the saying - eat breakfast like a King, lunch like a Queen and dinner like a Jack. Biggest meal of the day in the morning. I think most importantly is that you actually eat your calories! Skipping meals can stunt the nutrition your body needs.

Each meal I try to have carbs, fat, and protein. Say for breakfast I have a whole wheat english muffin with peanutbutter. Covers all those bases. I try to shop the outside walls of the grocery store and avoid most packaged foods (however, I do often have smart ones or lean cuisines for lunch because their easy and good calorie numbers). I've learned that meal planning and cutting and preppring ingredients at the beginning of the week make a HUGE difference for my motivation. It takes time but its worth it!

*each body type is different but I try to average 50% carbs, 25% protein and 25% fat each day out of my diet. I've noticed as long as I eat healthy this happens really close with out thinking about it.

I started working out 5-6 days a week. I do have a gym membership to Miekos and I have been hitting classes about 4 nights a week. These keep me from getting bored by hanging out on the eliptical for an hour. On days I don't hit the gym I absolutely love the Jillian Michaels 30 days shred DVD and her yoga dvd. It'd be easier if the weather were nice right now because I love to hike and do out doorsy stuff in lieu of the gym!

You guys can totally do this! I feel like as long as you take care of your body it will give you the results you want!

:) I hope this helps you guys and again sorry if its a little long!
