Requesting Info from Venues

I have been looking at receptions venues online as I am in the very early stages of planning and many of the ones in my area do not have websites that have a lot of details on pricing, guest capacity, menu, etc. One website had a really great downloadable PDF with all of their information in it.

I guess my question is, is it out of the ordinary to request digital brochures or PDFs from venues? Is that something normal that most venues provide? I understand I need to visit the venue personally to make a final decision, but I don't have a large budget and don't want to waste my time or fall in love with a place that is completely out of my price range.

Re: Requesting Info from Venues

  • Some did send me online copies of their brochures when I asked for general info.  Ask for a price list too....don't want to fall in love and find you budgeted $80pp and the lowest option is $100pp

  • It's completely normal to call and ask for that information. A lot of places don't put the info on their websites for a number of reasons: because they want you to see it and fall in love before knowing the price, because they have numerous options that might be hard to understand without a human being there to answer questions, because they aren't tech-saavy, etc. We had to reach out to every vendor we were interested in because you can only get so much from what's listed on a website.

I emailed all of the venues I was looking at and they all sent me a digital brochure with prices and packages and menus. I'm not going to visit a venue just to find out it's way out of my price range.

A lot would have brochures online, but no prices. But they would email me the prices.

  • Some of the places we visited didn't have actual brochures/price lists to send us, but if you called/emailed and ask for information you were at least able to have a conversation and get the info that way. I agree that you need to get at least basic pricing info (especially if they have a minimum price) before you spend the time to go visit.
