Invite Labels!?

So, I have no plans of getting a calligrapher and did not have addresses included when I ordered my invites. Yup we ordered and got them already! :) My plan was to use a mailing program I use at work that I could print them on small mailing labels. Free and pretty simple. However, in the past week I was offered a new position with another company and am leaving my current company. So now I cannot print the labels. My wedding is not until October so I wasn't planning on printing the labels for a few months. Does anyone know of any websites/online companies that provide this? Just curious. Thanks!

  • Can you print directly on the envelopes from your computer at home?

Do you have a home printer you can print them on yourself?  I printed the addresses directly only my envelopes using Word (put addresses into excel and did a mail merge).  I used clear labels for my rsvp envelopes and again just printed them myself.
  • Labels are not proper for addressing wedding invitations.  Invitations should be addressed by handwriting.  Calligraphy just means beautiful handwriting.
If you don't care, I would try to print directly on the envelopes from your home computer.  Anything is better than sticky labels!  Ugh!

I have ordered return address labels from Vistaprint.  They were inexpensive (I think $7 for 80) and turned out very nice.  I don't think they will do different addresses on each label though, if that is what you are looking for.

Because FI and I both have terrible handwriting, I printed the addresses where my invites were being mailed directly on to the envelopes (just did a Microsoft mail merge - it was easy).  If you don't have this printing option at work or at home, I'm sure you can get it done at Kinkos or Staples or something.  Since you would already be providing the envelopes, my guess is it would be pretty inexpensive.

  • I really dont like labels on anything rlated to weddings. Can you hand write them since you have so much time before they need to be mailed out?

  • I guess I could handwrite them. My handwriting is decent. Just thought I could save some time with labels and not worry about smudges or anything.

Any suggestions on type of pen/marker I should use if I do decide to handwrite them?

    Thanks everyone btw!! :)

  • Yes, do hand write them.  You spent time to choose the perfect invitation.  Why spoil them, now, with labels?
Any good pen with blue or black ink is fine.  I like to insert an index card with strong black lines inside the envelope, and then I can see through to the black lines when I write the address.  It keeps my lines straight, and helps save time.

  • I addressed ours in a felt-tip pen, so it looked really sharp against the cream of the envelope.

Agree with PPs -- no sticky labels.

  • Great tip with the index card!
