  You shouldn't invite anyone to pre-wedding parties that aren't actually invited to the wedding. It would seem like you were just asking for a gift because that is the point of a bridal shower.

  Those invited to pre-wedding parties (ie. bridal showers, engagement parties, etc.) must be invited to the actual wedding.  Otherwise, it looks like they are not good enough to come to your wedding but they're good enough to come give you gifts.  Also, there is nothing wrong with inviting people to your wedding even if they might decline due to the long drive; a wedding invitation is not a summons.  Personally, I would rather get an invitation and make the decision myself.

  Thanks that's what i figured. I more didn't invite because I know they can't take off work since they are both covering for me! I thought it would be rude to rub in the invite!

  any close female family members and friends that got a save the date should be invited to the shower if you did not send them a save the date they should not get a shower invite.
  
  
  my mom and sister only send out shower  invites to our close family and my very good friends we also sent invites to my fi close family but they live out of state, and 2 of his good friends wives we did not send out shower invites to his female co workers or his friends wifes only the ones very close to both of us  who also got save the dates

  No, not every close female who got an STD needs to be invited to the shower, and people can be invited to the shower and not have received an STD.

  Agreed with Viczaesar, hyechica81 is wrong. Any woman that is invited to the wedding could be invited to a shower, but there is no requirement as to who has to be invited to a shower.
