Wedding Insurance for Outside Ceremony.. Help !!

I'm wondering if anyone has had to go through this before.. We're looking to have our ceremony in Verona at one of the parks but Essex County requires that we have a general liability insurance policy. Can anyone point me in the right direction as to where to apply for an insurance policy? And also, has anyone filled out an Essex County park permit? That's confusing as well lol

    I would post on your local board about Essex County park permits.  This is an international board.  There are more than one Essex counties out there, I'm not even sure what state you are talking about.


    As far as wedding insurance, we got ours through my parent's homeowners.  There are companies out there that do special event insurance.






    What differentiates an average host and a great host is anticipating unexpressed needs and wants of their guests.  Just because the want/need is not expressed, doesn't mean it wouldn't be appreciated.

    We also have to provide an insurance policy for our outdoor wedding (Middlesex County, NJ - hi, neighbor!). Our venue uses a company called TULIP but we also had the option of finding our own insurance. I would check with whoever you already have insurance policies with. They should be able to either provide you information about a policy through them or let you know who else you can call. Also, you can try calling the county clerk or the administrative offices in Verona. Good luck!

    My venue also required that we get a liability policy.  They had a provider they recommended working with and also suggested checking with our homeowner's insurance provider for a policy.

    hello neighbor! And thanks for the tip! I'll definitely give all those options a try. I also need to secure a spot if it rains that day -__- where are you getting married in Middlesex County?!

    New Brunswick. The rental included use of one of the gazebos for the ceremony, weather permitting. If it rains, we would move the ceremony to the pavilion where the reception is taking place. The rental includes plastic weather siding for the pavilion, so it would stay dry since the floor is concrete.

    ETA: We looked at a lot of outdoor venues, but this was one of the few that had indoor bathrooms, not requiring us to rent porta-potties. I didn't realize how hard it would be to find somewhere to have an outdoor wedding that had real bathrooms!

    I went to an engagement party there with my fiance around a year and a half ago.. the place was beautiful and because it was a cold day they had this enclosed space with heaters where all the food was and everything. And it's funny you mention that, because my fiance DID suggest that place when we first started our search, and I completely put it down !! LOL mainly because someone in his family hosted the  party there, so I didn't want to steal their thunder you know? But that's interesting they'll have the reception too.. I'm assuming you're doing a summer day as well.

    Yea, the wedding is in July. We wanted a completely outdoor wedding, and went looking at other places, but the bathroom thing was our biggest issue. I have to change into cultural dress during the reception, and there was no way I was going to do that in a porta-potty. Plus, those things are NOT cheap to rent. We had been to another wedding at our venue (my bagpiper and officiant got married there a few years ago), and they were encouraging us to have our wedding there because it's affordable, it's gorgeous, and you have A LOT of freedom. Our rental is for 10 hours, the preferred caterer sets everything up for the day and cleans it up at the end of the night, and we got an alumni discount. Since we're on a fairly tight budget to pull off a Saturday night wedding with ~100 guests, this worked out well for us. Plus, all the bars are right by the hotel so when the reception is over at 9, we're all to get Fat sandwiches and going bar-crawling!

    That sounds awesome! We did our engagement party in my parents' backyard to save money, and the porta-potty rental was pretty expensive and that was for only a few short hours. That sounds like a pretty good deal you guys got for the place, though. I hope nothing but the very best for you and your beloved!

    Thank you! Good luck to you as well! Everywhere we talked to regarding insurance was relatively affordable (~$200 for our venue - it may be higher/lower based on your venue, number of guests, and the dollar amount of the policy). Don't be afraid to ask for quotes from a few different places before choosing!

    I just met with a venue that required insurance. Our contact there told us to just call our renters/car insurance company and tell them we need $25k liability coverage for an event, and the insurance company would know exactly what to do. She said the most any client had paid was around $200. I haven't called my insurance yet - but hopefully that helps.

    Our venue requires a $1M policy (historic venue). I asked the insurance company that I have my car insurance and renter's insurance from, and I was told that they don't do it unless you have homeowners insurance, so we talked to my parents, and my parents will be taking out the policy for us. My insurance company said that it usually is about $100-$200 for one day event coverage when they are able to provide it.

    Yes, where we are looking to have our ceremony at is a historic location as well. I'll give my car insurance company a call first, if not its up to one of our parents! Or, Plan B...
