Awesome Sunday!

So I completed the NYC Half Marathon!!! I am so happy because I actually did not think I would be able to run the whole thing. Prior to the race the most I ran was 10 miles, so I was so pumped when I finished! And it was such an awesome and fun experience! I think I caught the marathon bug :) I am pretty exhausted though, and my body is quite fatigued! Afterwards FI and I were supposed to get mac and cheese and beer at a place by my job (I had a groupon), but after running I was NOT going to walk all the way over there, and we figured we might as well keep it local, so we just had unlimited brunch where we got to have plenty of mimosas :)

So right now I am just going to relax. I brought my laptop home from work so I might do some work in a little bit.  Other than that, Mad Men marathon! What are you guys up to? Hope everyone is having a fun Sunday!

Re: Awesome Sunday!

  • Way cool! :) So exciting. I did the SF women's half in October and that was fun (though I was injured so I couldn't run the whole thing).

  • Thanks blueeyes90! Sorry to hear about your injury, but I'm glad you still got to have fun! I would love to run a half in San Fran.  I want to visit my college roomie out in Cali again [hopefully this year] and I want to go out to San Francisco. She currently lives out in Long Beach, so we were talking about maybe spending a few days in San Francisco.

  • Congratulations.   That is awesome.    I hate running with a passion.   If I ever finished a half marathon it would be walking.  I can and will walk happily all day long.  Make me run 2 mins and I'm miserable.

I spent the morning setting up my office.  My view is ridiculously awesome.    DH hung some of our pictures and the sound bar.   Really all we have left is hanging a few more pictures and we are all moved in and setup.  I waste no time.

DH is a work.  The rest of my day plans  including taking chef for a long walk and relaxing.   Then we are heading to Aspen tonight to met up with some friends of DH's from when he lived here a long time ago.

  • Thanks guys :)@lyndausvi- yea running is definitely not for everyone! One of my coworkers ends up in pain for at least a week after we do our annual 5k. And he doesn't run it all, either. Yet, he could spend hours lifting weights at the gym!

Sounds like you are settling right in! You should definitely post more pictures, because Colorado looks amazing. Aspen sounds like so much fun, I would love to go out there one day.

I forgot to say- so yesterday I went on a walk. I figured I should take it easy. I went to a bakery that sells cronuts- the one and only ( apparently it is a half donut half croissant which is supposedly amazing). I went there because the head baker there invented another amazing concoction- a chocolate chip cookie milk shot!!! It's a cookie In the shape of a shot glass with milk in it. It was To. Die.For. Chocolate chip cookies are my weakness. So yes. Perfection.

  • Congratulations!
  • Congrats! I did cross country in high school, but never did more then 10 miles in a run either.
And that Chocolate chip milk shot looks amazing. and I don't even like milk!

FI and I are having a quiet day at home. We went to Church, had lunch out, we came home and I did my taxes, and FI's desk broke. :) so now I'm checking my desk stock to see if there's one he wants me to bring home from work tomorrow.

  • Just went to the NCAA Indoor Track & Field finals yesterday (purely as an observer--running and exercise in general hate me). Some of those athletes are so amazing! Saw the fastest collegiate woman in the country set a new record. I wish I could do things!
  • Congrats!
What did you think would happen if you walked up to a group of internet strangers and told them to get shoehorned by their lady doc?~StageManager14

  • chibiyui - Thanks for reminding me - I actually still have to do my taxes! I have been slacking this year with my taxes. I should try to do it this week because before I know it, April 15 will be here.

Blergbot - That sounds awesome! I know what you mean! I read that the fastest woman finished the half marathon today in an hour and 8 minutes! Yikes!!! That is so amazing, I love watching athletes, it's amazing the things they can do!

  • Congrats!!!
  • Fan-freakin-tastic!! Congrats to you!! I ran a 5k once once and am to this day convinced I almost died. I envy those of you who can run for pleasure, as I'm so, SO not one of them.

  • Congrats to you!! I officially start training this week for the half marathon I'm running at the end of May. If only the weather would warm up a little bit...
  • ckel24! Good luck! I actually heard that running in colder weather is supposed to be better. Personally, I never ran outdoors in cold weather, but it was around 30 degrees yesterday and I thought the weather was actually perfect for running. I'm with you though. I do prefer runs in warmer temps.
